With that new footage of Tunney upscaled with AI vs Dempsey, I think that was probably the most eye opening video of all time. Tunney is one of the craftiest fighters of all time. You can see him thinking in there.

I didn't say as a heavyweight, why did you edit my post? I was speaking in terms of p4p. that's absurd. What a strange thing to do. factoring in his career as a LHW spinks is certainly higher in the p4p ranking than Tyson.

Funny thing is though, now that you mention it. Spinks wins over Holmes and Cooney are better than anything Tyson has. How do you rate fighters?

I respectfully disagree here. Tunney was a heavyweight for around 8 fights with Dempsey coming from a three year layoff and Heeney as his only other top 10 opponent at heavyweight. It may just be my opinion, but that hardly makes an ATG heavyweight.

He was an ATG lightheavy, he was extremely skilled and has an argument as being inside the top p4p fighters of all time, but not he best boxer either.......in my opinion.

Charles was heavy for a number of years all into his declining years where had the post WW2 epoch been more lucrative, he could've retired with grace and perhaps not gotten his deadly Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis that brutally laid him out.

So IBRO missed the boat in their rankings re the three. In their primes vs each other in trilogies = 9 of the best fights that could be had.

BTW, I have never seen evidence that Tunney refused to fight fighters for racial reasons, and it was Wills who turned down the Tunney fight, so could be Tunney taking a hit for something he never did.

It's not an argument. There's nothing to argue. It happened. It's factual history. Sorry if the truth hurts your little feelings.

If he was capable of avoiding 99.9 percent of Dempseys bombs then he has a chance to avoid Tysons. Tunney was a talent. You just need to read up about him more. What he did to Dempsey was a master class. If Dempsey connected on him with a really good shot, it would have been over. Likewise with Tyson same thing.

also remember one fighter is filmed in old fuzzy footage and the other fighter in clear color footage.

also factor in Spinks was set to retire, hadnt fought in a year and was lured in with a big payday. They loved him for not getting up in the first, its what sent the Tyson image in motion. But remember this wasn’t Spinks with something to prove.
