Yes, I have seen those fights. I have been following the heavyweight division for over 50 years now.Comment

Jack had a great uppercut, but I feel Frazier is just too much. If you could get Johnson with a more modern training program and bulk him up a bit more he might be a problem. The eras are just so different, one where they were barely coming out of the bare knuckle stuff and basically learning on the job vs Fraziers era which we all know about how great it is.Comment

If they each fought in their respective styles during their prime, Frazier wins it easily. Johnson wouldn’t have a size advantage as he did with his best wins over Burns, Ketchel, Jeannette, Langford, Kaufman, Fitz, etc. he also wouldn’t be able to get away with his holding and clinching tactics he used to wrestle and wear down smaller opponents.

To lose fights isnīt always a bad thing. It could be a learning experience. In those days it was. They werenīt as protected as they are today. I think Johnson
vs Foreman would be an easier fight for Johnson than the fight against Frazier. Foreman had few tools in the box. He was very predictable.Last edited by Ivich; 10-15-2023, 06:46 AM.Comment

Johnson only did well clinching smaller men, shorter men, lighter men, or older past their prime men on film. He could not clinch with Willard, he was smart enough not even to try! That what the film shows. Do you watch it?
That is why he could not clinch vs. Wlad. With his low guard, lean back defensive style, and mostly stationary feet , Johnson had neither the chin, the size, or the style to last long. Or the one punch power to get lucky. He did not throw may punches either.
This fantasy fight is a mismatch. Big time. Wlad via KO within six rounds.Last edited by Dr. Z; 10-15-2023, 07:31 AM.Comment
