Why do people still put Joe Louis as the best HW with his outdated and poor mechanics?

He would not be rated #1 today or in past eras dating back to the 1960's. I say he was the was the best of a poor group of heavyweights in the 1930's to mid 1940's in his own era. That is a fair statement.Last edited by Dr. Z; 02-01-2023, 08:47 AM.

I count two sub 200 pound men that knocked him out and least three others at that gave him though fights which would like be losses in the ten point must system in 12 round fights. This is if you watch the fights and examine the score cards. None of these men were today what is viewed as heavyweights. Yet some fantasies about him big the #1 or #2 heavyweight of all time. I guess it makes them feel better. The same group doesn't factor such truths as Louis only defended his title vs. two or three black men all of which were below 200 pounds and say should have lost twice to them on fair score cards, with one matches being vs a light heavyweight who could not see well enough. He would not be licensed today in that condition. And he had 26 title defenses only vs American white heavy weights and a one UK fighter. He did not fight any Eastern Europeans, they were not allowed to go pro back then. If Louis fought more black Americans and any Eastern Europeans his record would be, um you tell me?

Corbett would have beaten Jeffries.
You dismissed the idea saying they would have been different fights over the shorter route.Yet you happily propagate the theory that ,over 12 rds Conn would have beaten Louis. Walcott would also have beaten him..
Your hero is Jim Jeffries. How many of his opponents would be viewed as heavyweights today ? I'll answer for you.
NONE
6 defences 1 over 200lbs , 4 under 190lbs.2 under 175lbs.
Jeffries took the title off of 157lbs Fitzsimmons.
Jeffries advantage in weight disparity in fights with Choynski, Fitzsimmons,Sharkey,Corbett,Finnegan,Baker is well documented.
Your double standards were never more blatantly evident than in this smear campaign you are conducting on Louis. The same smear campaign that got you banned for life on Classic.
Joe Louis defended against and defeated 18 men over 190lbs
Jeffries had 22 fights 15 of them were against men under 190lbs.
You are a hater, and a hypocrite.

And how many were black? He's giving Louis grief over not fighting certain opponents, yet isn't taking into consideration the amount of rated contenders he did fight. In fact, Louis fought more rated contenders than Vits Klitschko didn't fight, and that's a lot! Louis in my opinion is the greatest heavyweight ever. I have no problem with anyone rating Ali over him, but that's it. To say otherwise or to try and pass off this agenda he's pushing is just ignorant.

One would think, that given all the big, strong, tough guys who've roamed the earth the past 2 centuries who found that the only use for their gifts was to work for a mediocre wage until they grew too old; there would be an appropriate level of respect for the very few who found the resolve to really go for it, and won the heavyweight championship of the World! Searching the far corners for something negative to say about ANY of them, much less Joe Louis? Stick your face in kerosene!

Unlike Jeffries who no one normal alive thinks is #1 or #2 of all time. But some do for Louis. Jeffries did not lose to 3 times to sub 200 pound men nor did he get lucky the score cards vs others as if seems Louis did.
Now if you read the fight report you would learn that Willard was coming on and if the final bell was the 20th round he would have upped the ante sooner vs Johnson.
Fitzimmons was listed at 167 not 157. Keep hating and lying.
Autor Adam Pollack tinkes the fight was pretty much any man's fight going into final rounds of Jefries vs Corbett I. If you read and scored the fight by a quality round by round report it is even at the time of the KO. I have shown you a quantity of news read . Anyway if the final gong was 20, jeffires would have upped the ante sooner.

Keep lying that I was " destroyed on another forum " . Wait check that , keep taking about another forum and they will ban you here too! Just like they did to Tony McVey and Tonto62!
I laugh in your face.Last edited by Dr. Z; 02-02-2023, 07:48 AM.
