It's never a surprise when someone uses sedatives to kill themselves.

Saying LHO was a marksman kind of suggests he was not a 'great' shot.
But at the same time achieving a marksman badge still does make you better than 95% of the population.
For him to have made those three shots, two hits, will always be open to debate.
What his 'buddies' in the Corp said about him is qualified information.
He enlisted in 1956 and you only spend several weeks on The Island (Paris) where this issue would have played out. Then these vets were asked by reporters/Warren Commission seven year later, after the assassination, to remember a particular recurit (and that person's ability to shoot) when in reality they probably barely noticed him at the time.

There are three levels of scoring in the Marine Corps into which recruits fall.
Also, Marines earn a marksmanship badge to celebrate their score.
These include:- Marksman
- Sharpshooter
- Expert
A marksman is the lowest score possible to qualify still, and the scoring range is 250-279.
Sharpshooter
A sharpshooter is the next level of expertise.
To be a sharpshooter, you must have a combined score of 280-304.
Expert
The highest level of expertise in marksmanship is Expert.
You will need a score of 305-350 to qualify at this level.
Not remembering the post, but you did an excellent job of detailing the extent of KKKlan reach by the 20s and 30s. Interestingly they were then equally taking over parts of Texas, but Ma and Pa Ferguson who were the people's champions managed to squelch them with successive governor elections that kicked them into a marginal status. Klan were bigger in many northern states than in Texas, and of course everything east of Louisiana was Klan territory all the way up to DC as you mentioned.Willie Pep 229 likes this.
