Duran, Leonard, etc, the best of the best of their generation all approach him as he was not superhuman.

I like the mentions of RJJ and what we would have thought had he retired post Ruiz, its a shame that we let someone's post prime work diminish what we think about them. Thats not to argue that longevity isn't a factor, but in discussions like this we are most certainly arguing about what they were at their best, not what they were when they were old. Unless someone wants to argue that Ugas ranks higher on the GOAT ranking than Manny....

You think Ugas is ugly? Which male boxers do you find more attractive, then?

When considering fighters who could possibly match him, I would include longevity in that discussion. Robinson had over 200 fights...it's difficult to compare a fighter who had a short career of < 50 fights. I would include the following on my list:

            Duran
            Pacquiao
            JCC Sr.
            RJJ

Some underrated greats who can be part of the conversation:

            Luis Rodriguez
            Emile Griffith
            Jose Napoles

If we go by actual accomplishment and resume, these spring to mind. Talent is a different category. talents would be factoring what they might be capable of as well.

Whitaker, Leonard, Floyd, Chavez etc they don't have the resume to stack up, even if they may have had the equivalent talent. Leonard has some pretty high level wins though.

I really really want to put Mayweather there, being undefeated so long and staying on top and in shape. I just can't though, I see his risk avoidance as too high. He's got the names but not the fights, he was going into them the strong favorite in all of them.

Pacquiao get's the nod by a hair, having a slightly better resume than Floyd. "But Floyd beat Pacquiao". No he didn't. That fight was a money grab sparring match that happened 4 years too late. I liken it to Duran vs Leonard 3. that being said even with the win i don't rate him higher, just like how i won't rate Leonard over Duran.

I'd believe that now. The USA is capitulating on itself it's like the fall of Rome lol.
