- - King paying Lar peanuts to fight nonchamps kept Lar on the lower order pay scale. Ali/Joe/George/Kenny were the big purse stars fighting the big fights.

Those guys were the era that Holmes crossed over from into his own. They were either done or riding out their last hurrah at that point. As far as I can see Holmes steadily increased his income save a few stay busy fights here and there. I am certain he made more than Norton in his career, and I would bet he made more than Frazier. The point is he didn't let King get his hooks in him and suck him dry like he did so many other fighters. I think you already know this, you just want to nit pick anything you can about Holmes.
