Roland in a Ring interview stated he had been troubled with bone chips in both elbows for some time. After the fight he decided to have them removed. Marciano had a good chin but I don't think it was in anyway extraordinary.Walcott was a good puncher,an ATG one? I don't think so.
Moore was a great puncher at LHVY and a good third of his ko's were over dross.and or middles and super middles.
How many top all time punchers did Rocky actually face to get this rep?
Who measured Marciano's punch to arrive at the conclusion that he was the hardest puncher ever?
He was an attrition puncher like Frazier,a grinder.
Lastarza,Charles, Moore,Layne all said they were hit harder by other fighters.
Walcott said Rocky hit harder with one single shot than did Joe Louis
One difference is that Frazier was a one handed heavyweight. He had very poor coordination with his right hand. This is why you rarely see him throw two fisted combinations to an opponents head. Marciano could knock an opponent dead with either fist. Marciano also had a much more varied defense than Frazier. Joes bending forward at the waist style made his head a prime target. Marciano stooped to his right which took him low and away from larger opponents punches (similar to Dempsey in this regard). This video tells the tale:

Yes that why I tentatively pick Marciano to beat Frazier, although Joe was bigger and faster.Later in his career Eddie Futch and George Benton worked on giving Frazier a better right hand ,but it was never a factor as far as ko power was concerned. I think Dempsey weaved more ,he didn't lean solely to his right as Marciano did,he went side to side.

Dempsey when in full blown attack mode bent at the waist but if you watch Dempsey Tunney 2 he is circling and looking for Tunney to commit to find a counter. Once he hurt Tunney he attacked and cause a knockdown. Then spent the rest of the round in attack mode cleverly avoiding Tunneys leads with head movement.

Similar to his game plan in 1919 vs Willard.
