Well, you would never be ashamed of writing Circus Fists. Good one for Robert E. Howard.

It seems there may be few fans of boxing fiction here. The expected bent on a forum is toward realistic journalism and credible biography.

It turns out, however, that quite a bit of boxing fiction has found its way into print. Boxing apparently has been a favorite sport among fiction writers because of the individualistic nature of its striving. Jack London has another boxing story in addition to A Piece Of Steak.

One of the other writers posted here, Robert E. Howard has apparently written oodles of boxing fiction centered around his Sailor Tom Costigan character from Circus Fists. Over-the-top stuff, but fun. Who ever said Rocky was not over-the-top?

What about Steve Springer of LA Times fame?

I don't know anything about him. He sounds like a reporter. Writes boxing features?

            - - Rocky satirical, slapstick comedy, a genre of one that would wow even the Little Tramp hisself.

Best diaphragm and lung workout that can be had as long as the beer and smokes last out that I fortunately prepared for watching my first Rockys 1-5 in serial replay not really knowing what to expect.

Not the most objective of writers, but the man behind boxing journalism getting big.

I read these old comic strips of Curly Kayoe, very popular in the 1950s. When he won the World
Heavyweight belt, it was The Ring title he received, and Fleischer that handed him it.

At the time, The Ring belt was synonymous with the World title.
It still is, to some of us old folks in the game.

A quote from the Jack London story The Mexican:

"He didn't know the first letter in the alphabet of boxing."

It only took him four issues to get a title shot?

What was his crusty old manager/trainer'sname?

                    Joe Jinks.

But in the last episode I read, when Curly loses the title to Dynamite Dunn, Jinks is Dunn’s cornerman.

                    Big drama!

He wrote De La Hoya's bio, I think a few others. He was the boxing beat writer for LA Times for a long time.
