Norton never beat a big power puncher either. Outside of a faded Louis, Marciano didn't really beat any big power punchers which may have been a factor when people talk about his "granite chin".Comment

Frazier’s only true puncher he fought then was Quarry . We won’t count any of his wins if it’s against the grain here we’ll just use his prime years .
This was his opponents leading up to Frazier .Most these guys are so bad they don’t even have published records . The only known credible guy he couldn’t knock out either kind of a coincidence don’t you think ?Win 31–2–4 Buster Mathis

I would argue that even guys who could be punchers were often boxer punchers. Liston, Marciano for example... Both guys could Ko like a pure puncher but had other skills that eclipsed a big punch and were more pronounced than just the end game of a big punch. Lets compare a puncher like Louis for example to Lennox Louis, a boxer puncher. Louis' whole game was setting up his punch. His strategy, his footwork, etc. A guy like Lewis meanwhile hit hard, could punch hard, but not everythng was a set up for a big punch with Lewis. Or... lets take Morrison. A bona fide puncher. He especially liked to set up the Left Hook. His game revolved around setting up that big punch, ditto for Cooney... Not the same as Frazier, who had the left hook but beat you through attrition more than a big punch... does not even make Frazier's hook, less than Morrisons, its just the difference between a puncher and a boxer puncher.
Real punchers are more rare than boxer punchers. Bottom line.
