Joe Louis pretty much quit against Schmeling in the first fight but then went on to have a long career showing heart, getting up off the canvas to win. Vitali after Byrd showed he was willing to fight to the death in that dog fight against Lewis. My point is many fighters have had fights where they know their body simply can't continue, but you can't brand their entire career based off one fight.

Good post. And I'll add that Fury has proven he could dig deep when in trouble. Vits never proved that. You can say the Lewis fight, but the fact remains he lost that fight to a guy who came in at a career high and had one foot out the door already .

When did boxing become a tag team sport? If you can't finish the job in boxing you don't get a pass because someone else was able to. On top of that, Vittles fought a month and a half after Wlad-Byrd. If he wanted the Byrd fight he would have gotten it. On top of THAT......Vits and Byrd were ranked right next to each other in the top 10 for the next several years with VK never looking to avenge his quit job.
