Remember Patterson - 22 KDs in 11 fights, second worst, next only to Charles.

But importantly/seriously Ingo was under the mob control? That I never knew.
    Ask for a link.

McNeely was a sacrificial lamb. He did go after Tyson though and took advantage of his moment even though it wasn't a championship fight.

            - -Unfortunately BS eliminates contextual links that generates any response, but originally the context I responded to was no hope fighters in title challenges, ie Ingo and Sonny not being in that no hope category, so Floyd did have some significant challenges. To win the vacated Rocky title he also beat the still reigning LH legend of Archie who was years away before he became irrelevant.

            Sabe?

              - -Hurricane Pete and then Mathias Jr were not title challenges. Frank Bruno was for context to the thread header.

Ali vs. London, Mildenberger, Dunn, Coopman, Bugner II, Evangelista. Wepner was considered a no-hoper but made for a game opponent.

Vitali Klitschko vs. Mahone, Sullivan, and Puritty.

Anyone Jose Torres beat after winning the title from Pastrano.

Big Lar made a good living living fighting these these guys after the judges robbed Ken Norton in thier championship fight. Evangelista, Ocasio, Weaver (gave him a great fight but noboby gave him a chance at the time), Zanon, Leroy Jones, a parkinsons ridden Ali, Le Doux, Snipes, Scott Frank, Marvis Frazier, Tex Cobb.

McNeely’s Tyson fight wasn’t for a championship though. Otherwise we could take a dozen Duran fights at lw and classify the opponent as a nohoper. I just mention Duran, but for real if the criteria was a prime star against a nohoper, we could post hundreds of fights.

Yes many a fight were what we use to call 'showcase' fights. (Now they often come as mandatories.)

Years back after a fighter won a championship with a tough fight (and maybe a rematch) he would be given the grace of an easy fight to cash in on. (Back when fights weren't million dollar events every time out.)

But of course every once in a while it would turn sour for him and a lesser fighter would 'shock the world' at least for one night anyway. But most of these fights were dogs. Zivic-Cochrane I think is a great example of this kind of fight and then surprise.
