Punchers particularly sometimes need the last few rounds to make it happen.

I just think it sucks that we don't have 15 round championship fights... Makes it skewed in favor of the boxer... Takes away the drama and need for a fighter to go into deep water, to make it happen, etc. whats your feelings, opinions about the issue?
But one could argue that punchers go for the KO earlier and therefore punch themselves out early, so they'll be too tired if there's extra rounds added again, like there used to be, especially with most of today's fighters. There's a;so nothing wrong with making sure boxers are safe in there, don't suffer unnecessary punishment and don't actually, you know, die in there.

I don't think less rounds is more safe. A lot of enhancements for "safety" create their own problems. Bigger gloves let people hit with more force with little regard to hand injuries, head gear encourages more gross amounts of contact, etc.

An excellent puncher in top condition like Louis for example, will use the rounds to his advantage, like any fighter would. It shouldn't be a viable strategy to go all out early and then hope for the best lol.

The real injuries tend to occur in the lighter divisions where fighters suffer multiple punches, more frequently, as far as I can tell... I mean I have no special data source for that so I could be wrong.

        I say bring them back.
You’ve got to be kidding me. Lopez’s face was a beaten pulp, bleeding everywhere by the end of the 12th round. He had one last push and it got him looking like he was hit in the face with a shovel. Whether you believe Loma was hurt or not, doesn’t matter. By the end of the 12th round he was A-OK.

Lopez spent most of the previous rounds getting snakes around on shaky legs. Two more rounds for Loma, king of cardio? No man. Lopez would have been doomed.

Yes the 11th was Loma's biggest round- the gash on Lopez was a butt.

But a gash is a gash. It's certainly not going to help Lopez in the later rounds. A gash that size would be a massive problem come the later rounds, and it was ruled an accidentally head butt. I can't imagine Lopez doing what he did in the 12th round in the 13th and 14th rounds. Not to mention the 15th round. I see Lopez getting dropped.

Teofimo was giving Lomachenko the business in the last minute of that 12th round. Maybe you should rewatch it.

More of that in a 13th round and it's a wrap.

Maybe the gash angered him or just finishing strong. But IMO had there been another minute to go I think he would have imposed himself on Loma right then. Teo was on him and I thought Loma was one clean punch away from being in trouble.

I was actually upset that the ref stepped in to check the gash in the 12th. Teofimo was coming on and that gave Lomachenko a respite.

I don't know man. This is what I saw happening in the 12th round. Maybe you can show me what you are talking about.

I already told you. Rewatch the last minute of round 12.
