IMO Leonard need the extra rounds- under 12 rounds he would have needed to begin his comeback in the tenth round, (instead of the 12th) but Hearns' legs were still fresh and his punches too sharp. It was in these rounds that Hearns was busting up Leonard's face.
No - Hearns by UD in 12 -- Over 12 rounds Marciano becomes a footnote and Walcott an ATG.
15 is the 'proper championship length.
P.S. And no Chavez-Taylor controversy.
and if it was 12 rounds Leonard would of also put a bit more pressure on hearns at the start of the fight...The scores were also to wide and easily round 7 could have been scored 10-8.
it’s completely different fight where your tactics would change.
The sound bites that Dundee said would have been said at the start of round 10.
no way on Earth was hearns ahead by 117-111 with Leonard winning 4 out of the 1st 10 rounds and round being a huge round for him.

And he didn't. Plus what do you expect a referee to do when he asks if a fighter is alright to continue and he doesn't answer? Of course he's going to stop the fight then.Comment

A knocked down fighters needs to present himself to the ref; usually identifying that he is able to continue by putting his hands up.
Taylor couldn't let go of the ropes he couldn't find his balance, he needed the anchor to hold himself steady.
He was a finished fighter it was well stopped.

you don’t know the **** your talking about ......Hearns was 32- 0 with 30 knockouts and was actually a close favourite going in to the fight.....Leonard had him out on his feet in the 6th and down in the 7th and had him running for his life in round 8....both those rounds could have been scored 10-8 and he had hearns down at the end of the 13th round.....steward actually was on the verge of stopping it in the corner after round 7......go learn history idiot I know more about this fight than you will ever know.

I was there live cuckface killah, you weren't even born lmao. Hears was up on all cards Duane Ford 124-122 | Chuck Minker 125-121 | Lou Tabat 125-122
Like I said before, Ray was losing miserably and getting outboxed all night. Hearns gasses and Ray got him late. Nowhere near Ray's best performance. Great come from behind win, but overall performance, he was losing ya dumb fcuking cvnt lmao. Too easy, who necks?Comment

Vegas my ass lol.... I was 12 and this fight made me really take notice boxing and take up the sport and become good at it.
it wasn’t live on tv in the U.K. just closed circuit venues mainly Leicester Square and I had to do with watching it the next night with ITV on Thursday.
That’s why they call them championship rounds and Leonard stopped him period.
Hearns was 6ft 1 with a 78inc reach with a mule kick of a right hand hand who was also an exceptional boxer so as I said before it was leonard most iconic and best performance all round....heart , speed , fitness, desire , and killer instinct.
Now go suck on fury’s toes wanker

Where does the time go ? I was a huge Hearns fan ( have family history in Detroit) and it was a big letdown when he lost. I go with Queenie on this. Hearns was overtrained. Sugar Leonard as all great ones do, found a way to win.Comment

I realize (as much as I can understand as a high school wrestler) that you can reached an emotional/mental peak and then delay can snatch the moment away - how you can go into a match not as mentally sharp as one might be - but I just can't see how one can over trained physically; the harder I worked the stronger and better conditioned I always felt.
I am not trying to be a troll I am curious how you see that phrase.Comment
