I still think this is the best version I ever saw of Duran at any weight. Having reviewed some of DeJesus's fights, he was a great fighter himself who would have likely reigned as the champion for much of the 1970's if not for Duran.

In this particular fight he never stood a chance from the beginning unlike in their other two bouts.

This is assuming you took a lot rather than a little, which is what a person would do if they were trying to gain an advantage. A little just helps you heal from something.
I don't have time to do the research at the moment, but why would cyclists use them if they did not increase stamina? And there is still the point that they increase your strength and give your muscles quicker reaction time.

Note what happened to Mosley's punch output when he moved up to 154. Also note how heavily Vargas faded against DLH. The proof is in the pudding.
This has happened to hundreds of fighters who have either moved up in weight or taken a prolonged beating through out a fight.

Cyclists use EPO to increase stamina, not roids. Entirely different drugs.

Mosley however also used EPO...but that's beside the point.

Also, as for Mosley's punch output, it went back up when he went back down to 147. The only way that's possible to do in old age after being at a higher weight for years is if you were at the higher weight by un-natural conditions. Mosley stopped bulking and became a better fighter again.

Don't know much about steroids ***** bit after my time and will bow to your obviously superior knowledge but they can't just be for injuries surely?
I know that is always the excuse that is trotted out when athletes get caught.
They must be taking them to get an edge surely?

Yeah you would think so, because the punishments they carry are pretty harsh so to weigh that up and still decided to use them, they must enhance your performance a lot to be willing to take that risk.

Well thats always been my view but I have to admit I'm a bit too old to do the relevant studying, the bucket and sponge was revolutionary when I started following boxing lol

Steroids is very effective for a lot of sports, baseball perhaps being at the top of the list. In sports where the level of overall athleticism is supreme, they aren't nearly as effective. Boxing is a very physically draining sport, more than any other non-combat sport for sure. Muscle fatigue in boxing is pretty much a death sentence in the ring, and if you're in for a drawn out battle, the likelihood of it happening while on steroids is exponentially greater.

I think they both are just too well-rounded to be dominated. They both do things at a very high level.

Hopkins has all that proven success against lefties. He gets the timing and angles on that straight right hand in. Needless to say, he's an intelligent fighter. But Hagler wasn't easy to hit so he's not gonna get hit at will. Hagler had nice parrying skills and head movement. Hagler had the superior jab, and that can disrupt anyone's rhythm. When the fight is at range, then it's probably going to be close, with these two weapons being key.

Up close, Hagler was strong and skilled, but so was Hopkins. Hopkins also knows the right type of dirty "stink it out" tricks to negate action but also help nullify an opponent's inside game. Hopkins is also a big middleweight and presumably would be one of the strongest guys physically that Hagler would face.

What about Holyfield, RJJ, Tommy Morrison and others who actually benefited from steroid use? If there were no upside boxers would never use them.
