    Full round by round breakdown.

    Round 1) Clear Leonard round
Round 2) Another Clear round for Leonard as Hagler does almost nothing
Round 3) Close round but I gave it to Leonard cause he closed it out strong
Round 4) In this round Hagler played follow the leader and got completely out landed
Round 5) Clear round for Hagler
Round 6) Another round where Leonard outboxed Hagler clearly
Round 7) Clear round for Hagler
Round 8) Clear round for Leonard
Round 9) Very close round and could've gone either way but I gave it slightly to Leonard
Round 10) Leonard landed more punches and more hard punches as well
Round 11) Both fighters fought hard and well but clearly a Leonard round
Round 12) Leonard didn't do much besides land a few flurries and look to survive. Clear Hagler round.

So the final tally 9-3 in favor of Sugar Ray Leonard or as you'd score it 117/111.

I don't see this fight as being controversial and actually think the judge who gave it to Hagler was way off. Cant see Hagler winning more than 5 round max.
I saw this thread and it caused me to reflect... Boxing and its ways lol. Nobody sane that I know following baseball would say "hey! upon reflection, the red sox won the world series against the reds in 1975!" But in our sport, we can reflect on these fights over and over again...

It really comes down to what the judges find important, far as I can tell...Both guys fought well.

      - -Judges all over the map with one a flaming farce which is the one that POed Marv. That was the beginning of Rays WWE comeback tour, but he had to retire another year to wait out Marv. When Ray never showed up, wisely knowing Marv's record in rematches, Ray immediately unretired to start his cash grab the garnered him a bevy of moistened, dewy eyed fanboys. Marv moved to Italy where he learned Italian while reading Italian scripts for movies to become a rock solid legend of lore.

I have to admit I thought it was close, but I felt Leonard clearly won.

I've watched this fight plenty of times. And scored it. I agree with the result and Leonard won by a small Margin. I don't know how you came to the conclusion Leonard dominated. The later rounds Hagler started working. You probably scored it like a touch system.

I haven't watched this fight since the night it happened, I just couldn't stomach it. Hagler looked so hesitant to just let his hands go. In my mind, Hagler was afraid of Leonard making him look bad. He didn't age as well as Leonard, with all of the wars that he waged. He was always a step behind in the bout...............Rockin'

I wonder if CompuBox ever tallied the numbers for it.

                  - -No, but CompuFraud has the Franchise for tallying majic numbers for modern day jellies to spread on their muffins.

                    Yes, they have.

"Overall, Leonard landed 306 of his 629 thrown punches (49%) compared to Hagler's 291 out of 792 (37%). Two judges had the fight close, seven rounds to five each way, with judge Lou Filippo scoring the fight 115–113 for Hagler, and judge Dave Moretti scoring the fight 115–113 for Leonard".

Then round by round the punches landed are probably close too. Because that's what matters more than total punches.
