"Not a boxer. A boxer's blood is precious. Every drop of it. He can't afford to lose a drop of it."

George Foreman calling a bloody fight for a network.

" Master Cribb is the most quarrelsome man in all of England, and, he is a fighting man and I am a fighting man. If I punch him in the head and he punches me in the head, what's that to anyone else? So what is the point in talking about bail?" - John Kendrick.

Jack Dempsey tells a funny, sad, but funny tale about one of his favorite sparring partners early from his career. Kid Blackie era I reckon. So this is a double with boxer quotes and a bonus wife quote, kinda:

"Rufus Cameron had been having trouble with his wife for years. Ruf was hauled into court on wife beating charges. She was the complaining witness with two black eyes, a swollen ear, and a cut face. 'Rufus has been beating me for years' the wife testified 'I just can't stand no more. I want you to put him away for a while'. The judge listened patiently then summoned Rufus. 'You heard your wife' says the judge 'What have you got to say for yourself?' Rufus, cool as a cucumber, replies 'Don't pay no mind to her judge, she's punch-drunk' " - Jack Dempsey

"They ought to cut this juk-throwing at boxing. The mollycoddles and pinheads never gave it a square deal." - John L. Sullivan

I’m fond of Sonny Liston’s ”you can’t separate a champion from his time”.

Who would win, John L. Sullivan vs Joe Louis, I don’t care much about. I’m satisfied with, that they were the right guys for their respective times.

Didn't Joe Louis say about someone "He can run, be he can't hide"? Was that about Schmeling or Braddock perhaps? I remember hearing about Lennox Lewis talking about fighting Herbie Hide saying "He can Herbie, but he can't hide" lol.

To the best of my recollection Louis was talking about the Conn rematch. And I believe it was Rid**** Bowe who said that about Hide, which was hysterical.

I believe it was Louis replying to Conn who announced he wouldn't bulk up for the fight but instead would use hi speed to defeat the Champion.

"How did you expect to hold it for six months when you couldn't hold it for 13 rounds" – Joe Louis to Billy Conn, after Conn said to Louis: "Joe, why didn't you let me have the title, I could have run down to the corner store and told my guys, 'hey I'm heavyweight champion of the world', then you could have won it back from me six months later."

"They wanted to give me one-third of the revenue, but I said I should have at least one-fourth."
                      — Ingemar Johansson

No, Ingo never said it. It was a comedian who regularly used the quote when he imitated Ingo in his shows.
As the joke spread, people started to believe it was Ingo’s own words, and the poor fellow had to live with it.
Still today, there are ‘funny and ****** quotes’-books which claim that Ingo said at.
