George Foreman lost to two people in his prime. Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young , The same Jimmy Young who most people think beat Ali as well. Neither Young or Ali fought anything like Louis. Louis looked good against really small guys or slow, crude, bigger guys like Max and Buddy Baer, Primo Carnera and Abe Simon. Foreman is far superior to any of those guys in skilled, power, strength and chin. Joe Louis was knocked down and hurt by sub 200 pound guys. Hell 170 pound light punching Billy Conn had Joe Louis hurt. George Foreman would brutally stop Louis in the first round.

But you will have these sad little people who will tell you that Louis would win because Burt Sugar (or some other simpleton) said Joe Louis was the best heavyweight of all time. Joe Louis isn't even a top 100 heavyweight of all time. Again Joe Louis looked good because of the low level of opposition he faced. If you honestly can't grasp that if you put any half way decent fighter from the 1970's, 80's, 90's or early 2000's against the same opponents that Louis faced that they would be undefeated then you really need to stop watching boxing.

Na, he's going to get shanked in the lunch line? Probably over a fruit cup.

"The Warden is terrible, just terrible. Had I'd been running this prison we wouldn't be having these shanking problem, Trump would have made a phone call and there would have been fruit cups for everyone. Terrible, terrible job this Warden is doing. One phone is all I need, but now I can't fix it, I can't, they lock me in every night. It's terrible."

For the folks going with Foreman. I'm trying to picture how he can do it. George is going to move forward maybe behind his jab but.sometimes he forgot to use it.

Louis can jab with Foreman but thsee two would find themselves at midrange right away. I don't see The Brown Bomber having the problem.

2 legendary sluggers I cant say i would risk the house on it but Joe Louis would be the one getting off first, ripping shorter, faster more fluid combinations, with the better accuracy. Joe could counter Georgeq

Foreman is stronger but his defense costs him this fight as.well as wider, at times telegraphed swings. Louis wouldn't. be scared to fired back.

Joe Louis the betrer puncher here. Quicker hands, better combos, better technique. Louis didn't crouch somewhat negating Foreman' s uppercut.

              Joe Louis 60%
              George Foreman 40%.

Foreman KO's him with ease and brutally in the first three rounds.

                Foreman by KO round 1.
Louis was too small to hurt Foreman?? Foreman.217Lbs 6-3. Louis 201lbs 6-1ish

So the many contenders Louis knocked under the canvas that were as big or bigger than Foreman? Why werent they too big? Guys up over 6-6 250lbs, went face first earlier than the smaller ones..

What fights of Joe Louis can we review where he was scoring clean shots but his opponents were not fazed?

Louis has plenty of bouts on his resume that would describe him capable of getting the job done. Foreman is a great fighter no doubt, it likely won’t be easy. Joe might be the goat though, on fight night Foreman is gonna eat a lot of leather, hard leather.

                    Louis 6 ft 2, 205 foreman 6 ft 3.5 and 220.

as you said Louis busted up even bigger men. Size won’t matter anyways, this isn’t that big if a size gap regardless.

I think you underestimate Louis' footwork a bit. Joe wasn't a dancer by any stretch, but he wasn't as slow a foot as many make him out to be. His style was specificly designed to bring his opponents into his power zone. mI can't recall which of his opponents described it, but they said something to the effect that his footspeed was very decieving. That he looked to be moving slowly but could close the gap very swiftly.
I realize this is a reply form 2009! But both fighters were long retired by then. Foreman was good at cutting off the ring, and Louis footwork was well bettered by several of his opponents in his own era.

I don't think I am undereastimating Louis footwork, or his escape ability. Or his defense. If short and fat Toney Galeno and Jimmy Braddock can floor you, and the slow handed Buddy Bear also do the trick, Foreman would land his best too. And Louis did not have AlI's chin or defense so I think Foreman tiring out is unlikely..

I'd say it is 80% likely Foreman wins
