Well if "anybody else" would have gotten hit then it can't be underrated.
The guy was somewhat impressive with boxing angles and making it difficult to find him from mid range, especially for the jab. Obviously he is not best known for his defense.
Alot of People are so extreme when it comes to marciano, he is either a bum or he could do the miraculous.
It is true that Marciano would be taken out by most modern sluggers, he was a slugger himself and he is just too small.
At the same time, matching up someone like that with Bernard Hopkins is utterly ridiculous. He was a powerful and relentless puncher and a fighter who could take shots from a guy like Joe Louis (Yeah Louis was past his prime but the punch is the last thing to go).Last edited by res; 03-05-2009, 05:17 PM.

On the contrary, I think it would be pretty effective. The lazy, slow, unconditioned, inactive slugs who pass themselves off as heavyweights these days would probably not know what hit em. They'd be gassed halfway through the bout.. when Marciano was just getting started!
And for the dorks who just can't see beyond the Rock's size.. he was a stocky extremely powerful dude who would undoubtedly step into a modern ring well over 200 pounds.
And you just know it would be solid muscle.

I don't buy it.
Rock's alot like Kelly. Both come straight forward hoping to land that big right, knowing you can't take too much of them. We all know how B-Hop was able to neutralize that right hand. Plus, Rocky is too easy to hit. Fast hands, constant movement and getting clinched on the inside will beat The Rock.
