But Dempsey was only knocked out once, in a fixed fight. By Fireman Jim Flynn, even if the fight wasnt fixed, Jim Flynn had a dynamite right hand. Jack Dempsey was not a reckless fighter, he knew exactly what he was doing. I wouldn't count on people believing the next thing you spew about Jack Dempsey. Do your reasearch.
I hate to endorse such a sour post with no caveats but having read the thread up to this post it is evident that people do not do their research.

First time and time again we see that size is not the mitigating factor people assume it is...Cruiserweight? Do you know how many times Ray Corso has stated that the Heavyweight division is a misnomer? It should be called "the open division where any weight can compete." Now certainly there are limits and 160 pound guy isn't going to fair well against a 260 pound guy...

But if one does their research they will find that when boys look at pinups, the proportions on a pinup have changed little over the years... small waist, big T1t5, etc...And the proportions for a heavyweight, forged by God's Blacksmiths themselves has changed little, No man is going to be appreciably stronger in the ring due to size, than a 220-240 pound, big boned, strong, solid heavyweight.

If bigger and stronger was the best Primo Carnera would be the top heavyweight, including against guys today. If Dempsey wanted to he could fight at 200 pounds plus, he didn't because it was not to his advantage. In the time when he was fighting a fighter was concerned with endurance and still there was a great concern to protect the hands.

People tend to lose focus on reality. We have Wilder and in the old days there was Max Bauer. Both men had a crushing right hand, fast feet and were built similarly.

Research suggests that size has not made heavyweights stronger. It also suggests that at a certain weight we have all the strength we will have that is useful against an opponent.

And watching modern fighting suggests that the extra weight, be it fat, muscle or a combination of the two makes for less endurance so whereas boxers trained to fight for and could last 15 rounds or more, fighting many times per year in some cases, boxers and the bigger guys in MMA show that the bigger size can be a detriment in those later rounds, since they tend to use more oxygen with all that extra fat or muscle. That's why the fighters with better endurance or cardio as it's now called as well usually tend to be the leaner, less muscular ones, who do plenty of running when they train and spar plenty of rounds as well. Louis, Dempsey, Marciano, De La Hoya, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Holyfield, Couture, GSP, A. Silva. That's why they all were able to carry their power into the later rounds and look just as strong in the final round as in their first.

Dempsey would do just fine, now that there is a heavyweight champ he would fight. I guess Jack would fight a Mexican, by bčaner. Dempsey vs Ruiz for all the marbles.

We've already had one fine champion named Ruiz, now here is another already. That name is like Smith in the US, by burka.

Yes indeed! There are biological limits. If we took the muscle frame of a Gorilla and put it on a human being they could not move... It would be like weighing 800 pounds. And muscle takes more to maintain than fat! A lot more.

                      - -Is that why Gorillas are vegetarians?

Veggies banned by VADA as PEDs now?

                      Sweet!
