His best chances obviously would be at cruiserweight, where I think he'd clean up without too much problem. I wouldn't count him out at HW though, he had a knack for beating much bigger men.

I'd give Marciano a much bigger chance against the Klitschko's of this world than Dempsey.
Dempsey have been knocked out a few times, by much weaker men than the 250 pound monsters of today.
Sorry, I don't think the 250 pound monsters of 1920 could compete with the modern day big ****s.
And anyone who has fought a guy 50 pounds heavier than themselves will testify to the strength difference.
That being said, Dempsey would probably win a good amount of fights simply with heart and recklessness, but the same **** would probably let him end up with some permanent damage.
Cruiserweight is a different matter though.

Obviously tyson did not do ANY research on Jack Dempsey, and decided to start feeding people a bunch of bullcrap. Dempsey was the 2nd hardest puncher of all time, that and his great skill would allow him to mow over any fighter fighting today. Marciano is the same. But Dempsey was only knocked out once, in a fixed fight. By Fireman Jim Flynn, even if the fight wasnt fixed, Jim Flynn had a dynamite right hand. Jack Dempsey was not a reckless fighter, he knew exactly what he was doing. I wouldn't count on people believing the next thing you spew about Jack Dempsey. Do your reasearch.

He bob & weaved nearly all of that first guys punches. Dempsey was better than Frazier in bobbing and weaving.

On a separate note, why is it that fans of one boxer or another feel they have to tear down past greats to make their boy look good? It's really gotten to a rediculous level here with fan-boys trying to rip down Louis, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, and now Dempsey. Many fans of Mike Tyson seem to be particularly prone to this. The irony is, of all Heavyweight champions, it was Mike Tyson who had the most reverance for the past greats. I can't image Tyson showing those greats the kind of disrespect his adoring fans do. Can you imagine one of them disresecting Dempsey in FRONT of Tyson? Tyson worshipped Dempsey, considered him a role model of how to fight. I suspect Mike might just backhand any fan so foolish as to belittle Dempsey in from of him.

this is not a flame post, but i also find it ironic how you find dempsey's defense underrated and find tyson's defense overrated.....hmm, maybe one should take a look at jack's face after his fight with tunney. one should also look closely at the tape and see hom many flush clean shots tunney is able to land on him
Poet you are the biggest tyson hater, dont feel bad about that, but it's a pure fact
you also havent answered to my previous thread regarding louis and tyson's opponents.
you have redicilously stated that tyson avoided tony tucker for the rematch when tony left the sport for 2 years after that fight and came back as a beach whale at 250 pounds for his next fight.
you shrugged off the alex stewart fight saying that he didnt recover from holyfield yet he had 2 knockouts after that and seemed nice. because tyson got to him so easily you can use that excuse at your convinience
among other things you dismissed tony tubbs and pinklon thomas as some second rate punks
