About Jameson, those punches didn't land that hard to begin with. Tyson or any other fighter never threw every combination with all their might anyway, just certain ones at certain times. There's no way Bruno hit harder, he'll tell you that. LOL

Ask yourselves this, if Tyson really hit as hard as his hardcore fans claim, why did he never kill anyone or end a career in the way that Marciano did with scary regulairty? Marciano was putting people into comas and ruining their careers with consistency. When Tyson knocked a guy out, it made for a brutal and exciting night but those guys usually continued on to do other things. With Marciano it was usually the end of your career. And he couldn't even hit you as often or as accurately as Tyson did.

If punch for punch, Tyson hit so much harder than Marciano, and he was hitting his opponents so hard and right on the button all the time, why was no one ever killed or seriously harmed? Don't give me that **** about the gloves either, because the padding actually makes a concussion even more likely over the course of a fight, and don't try to come at me with "oh, the guys Tyson fought were bigger and better conditioned". Don't make me laugh, I mean take a look at some of the skinny awkwardly built no hopers he pummeled early on. It's not like Tyson has been fighting Adonises who've all taken advantage of modern technology to be the best they can be.

If anything, I think that proves that Tyson had more power because he needed less shots to get the job done, hence the lesser damage. Most fighters that died in the ring came from accumilation of punches, and often from people who were not known as devastating punchers. Emile Griffith was not known as a murderous puncher, but he killed Paret, didn't he? Neither was Mancini or Ezzard Charles. You never heard of Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Ike Williams or hamed killing anyone, because they needed less punches to get the job done. Marciano needed more punches than Tyson to get the job done, so that explains the more damage.

marciano and tyson were very different fighters, tyson was alot quiicker so he landed more punches while opponents were fresh, when marciano would be hitting air.

I highly doubt Marciano would come into his fights with intent on wearing them down, like every slugger he probably would try to get a lucky knockdown in the early rounds, but if that was failing he would revert back to trying to wear him down.

In all honesty, Rocky didn't have the technical ability to wear a fighter down like you are referring. He was basically a human hurricane of punches. Rocky's mindset (IMO anyway) was to outlast his opponent and when his opponent started slipping then it was goodnight Irene.

He knew he always had the extra gear and was able to kick it up a notch when the other guy was just hanging on by a thumbnail.

Thats the things about Marciano, he was one tough SOB. Just like the movie Rocky, Marciano was able to take more pain than the other guy and when the other guy was spent WHAMMO!

That was his motis operandi.

Lewis also said at 19 no one could stand in front of Mike. He was probably talking about no one being able to fight toe to toe with him. Emanual Stewart after the Tyson Lewis fight, said he thought Tyson had the most punching power in history.
