Arum is such a good businessman. I sit back and admire how he runs his business and seeing the bigger boxing picture. I see no coincidence with the fact he was involved in almost all of the best fights of the past 12 months sans Canelo and Gervonta.
This is the same guy who talked about respect for boxing. Same guy who walked out of the ring w/out giving an interview after his loss to Canelo. Same guy who said anyone from 154-168 could get it but he only fought at 160 his entire career. Same guy who told anyone that would listen that he had true Mexican style til Canelo beat it out of him and he doesn’t mention mexican style ever again. That same guy
Move on man. Quit living in the past. He's 38, not 28. We change. Our feelings towards things change. Who cares? Do you post the same message in every Golovkin thread? Since you Brought up Canelo, he's openly admitted he doesn't even want to be fighting by the time he's 36. Let life take its course. When you grow up you'll understand.
Usman just using Canelo's name for clout. I feel for Canelo, not a day goes by people don't drop his name to hype themselves. Look at Benavidez and Andrade. Two guys who have fought nobody and use Canelo's name to try and build themselves up. Jake Paul would be happy to knock Usmans ass out.
BJS has the WBO belt.
That is enough justification for Canelo to go after him.
Completely agree, he's also the only two division belt holder at SMW and has by far the best resume in the division as an olympian with wins over Eubank, Lee, and Lemiuex.
This would be a massive fight for the network. It would be a great fight I’d love to see it. Charlo has a lot of options, the question is will we see any of them in the ring with him. Munguia, Andrade, jacobs, Benevidez all good options. I don’t see him Landing a fight with Canelo in the next 1-2 years and after that well, Who knows. Benevidez actively callin for the fight, there’s not a lot of reason for Charlo to say no given that he probably isn’t fighting anyone of note at middleweight.
Canelo had 3 fights at the 160 MW limit. First two GGG fights and Danny Jacobs. I thought G won the first of those (despite being on the wrong side of 35) so I think he was better. But even w/o that I have a hard time saying Canelo was the best MW since BHop simply because he fought so few fights at the weight.
he also fought and beat Miguel Cotto for his MW title, which he immediately relinquished to go back down to 154. The claim at the time was he did this to avoid fighting GGG. GGG was already past his prime anyways.
the majority of what’s posted about GGG history is stretched to the limit. Great fighter, best MW since Hopkins. The names posted earlier are comical, all but Wright were punch drunk by 32, the age at which GGG entered the spotlight.
That's a nasty, uncalled for denigration of a decent, hardworking guy. Steward's Family surely must not be short of anything. They are long grown up, and in well paying positions. If they are not, I can't help them and neither should Banks, unless he wants to.
Steward, a very successful trainer of Champions for close on 40 years, made a fortune, many millions I'm sure, 7-10% of the purses of all his top fighters who were getting 10-15-20 mill a fight. and Steward likely still had all of it when he passed away at almost 70. He also earned a hefty salary for many years as a commentator for HBO. Certainly had a very normal frugal lifestyle. Training and commentating left no time for a high life anyway. Likely left about $20-25 mill-maybe more..
Why do I bother telling you this. I don't, I'm telling others who might be influenced by your derogatory crap.
I like this guy. Good post.
Is Jermall the best fighter at MW? he’s definitely the most prime fighter, I certainly don’t think he’s as talented as GGG or Canelo but he is peaking right now and better find a way to capitalize. There is zero chance he fights any DAZN fighter so we better start looking at, well....there really isn’t anybody for him to fight.
I really like this pairing of GGG and Banks. It’s all gravy from here on out for GGG, years past his prime but still proving he’s an elite fighter. I think he was kinda ruined by Abel later in his career. Too in love with his power, too focused on the head. I remember hearing someone once say, how many champions has Abel Sanchez trained? He had Terry Norris, a good fighter...then was out of boxing. it was easy to see in the Brook fight that GGG became more of a sharpshooting power puncher and lost the rhythm he had earlier in his career. Let’s see if they can keep him in the winners bracket in The twilight of his career. To me, GGG is the best middleweight since Hopkins. a first ballot hall of famer.
If Andrade wants to get fights, he's going to need to look vulnerable and he needs to up his competition enough that some cracks in his game can be shown. When you're beating guys 120-108 constantly nobody is gonna come a knocking unless you bring the money. And he's not beating guys 120-108 because he's just that good. I honestly don't see anything special there, I think Saunders is a more skilled and dangerous southpaw.
Shakir looked like a southpaw Mayweather in here last night against a very good fighter. To me he looks like a P4P talent already and probably the best you fighter in the game.
What's worse is these clown UFC guys using Canelo's name to gain clout and popularity. The inability of the talented fighters between 160-175 to actually fight one another is embarrassing. Even 147 has champions unifying.
Arum would hate it if Crawford vs Spence happens and Crawford wins. First, he would miss out on the only successful Ppv has been a part of and second, if Crawford wins, he becomes #1 on many p4p lists, becomes the only 2 time undisputed champion and opens up other big fight opportunities such as fighting the potential undisputed champion at 154. Arum would hate to see that after allegedly losing so much money promoting Crawford up to this point.
Ever had an employee who kept asking you for more money than they were worth, and you kept obliging because you needed them to do the job? If you have, you know once they are gone you dont give two shits if someone else paid them what they wanted you’re just glad to not have to deal with them anymore.
Andrade should have left DAZN and Eddie Hearn for ESPN or PBC. Anything. Those other platforms will at least hype him up, give him his time. Eddie Hearn is a diarrhea of a promoter and he's stuck on the third page of DAZN.
I could give two ****s about what you think I don't ever think I've read anything you posted that's worth while nor do I remember your name but you sure read my ****. What I said is true if you're too stupid to understand an analogy then there's no point in explaining any further.

on second thought we should listen to you. Preach on Kid.
Eddie Hearn and DAZN have brought forward nothing and have nothing in the lineup for the remainder of 2020. Their 2 “stars” are on ice with nothing scheduled. They have 6+ talented A/B quality fighters from 160-168 and they can’t get any of them to fight each other. Here’s their lineup closing out 2020 Jacobs Rosado, Andrade DHH, BJS MM. Are you kidding me? these guys aren’t even big paydays. It’s poop.
Unfortunately, this is not a strategy that has proven to work in generating either money or career defining fights. Shame because I’m massively high on Bivol as a fighter, could see him as a 2 division or possibly lineal champ given his talent which says A LOT given the competition in those two weight classes.
My feeling after watching the second fight was that in the final few rounds GGG learned Canelo’s distance and tendencies and to throw with him not in response. I thought after the last fight Canelos face said I’m done with this guy. Yes GGG was cut it was caused by a headbutt and the older we get the more our faces markup.
At this point both of these guys are past their physical prime. GGG has spent the majority of his popular career post physical prime. A rematch will end in a body shot KO for one of these fighters, likely a win for Canelo.
