I don't understand why he keeps saying Sept. is his last fight.
You're telling me a guy who dies by his record and being one of the best is going to stop Boxing once he ties the record instead of going down as 50-0?
Well you have followed the exact same pattern as a sherdog troll.
1. Make new account.
2. Make a thread comparing bruce lee/mma/wrestling/etc to boxing.
This is my only account.
And im not "comparing". Just asking who would win a in street fight.
The best mma fighters are those with kick boxing wrestling as their main background .
Wrestling training is some of the most grueling in all combat sports period boxing is an 8 week training camp with really hard training than several months to recoup your body. In wrestling they are constantly training getting beat up . I challenge any boxer here to take one wrestling class before speaking on who would win . I did wrestling for years as well as boxing so I understand the work both require and can speak with experience and not just what I think
Agreed.
Does anyone know though, a little off topic, how much training Pro Boxers do when a fight isn't scheduled?
Again I'm a boxer first but stopping a takedown from a world class wrestler is near impossible for someone with no TDD. A takedown is more likely than a boxer one punch koing him. A wrestler can also shoot out of punching range or even just ducking a punch and than a double or single leg.
The training it takes to be a wrestler is tough, but the training it takes to be a boxer is tougher.
I'd have to go with the wrestler, you see wrestlers who aren't top heavy, then you see these boxers with massive upper bodies but skinny little legs...easy to take down.
Wrestling training is just as tough.
It is also much easier to become a Pro Boxer than an Olympic Wrestler.
It depends. Honestly, it's real iffy an absolutely PURE wrestler vs any of the striking arts. They dont have a sense of distance and are not used to seeing strikes come at them. I'm not talking about just boxing, but the wrestler is going to eat somethin on his way in. People who have never fought another person dont realize its not as simple as just ducking. A world class fighter vs anyone no used to seeing a punch come at them will land at least once. Its just too fast, too technically sound. It's like putting n the worlds strongest man to hit a baseball from the best pitcher. He's not going to see it. Thats not the way wrestling is... They dont start off a corner awy and engage each other. The boxer (or thai fighter, kick bixer, etc) is going to throw more than one ounch before they get taken down. They'll throw first, guaranteed and will then try to create space. In a real fight to the death scenario the striker will stike at the back of the head/neck or spine as they're grabbed. Wrestling is all well and good if theyre in grabbing distance. Some people are naturally well rooted and hard to take down even by wrestlers due to timing and anticipation and this is in MMa where the "wrestlers" have other facets to set it up and real experience vs striking. Can the boxer/striker end it with what he does land is the real question.
Good post but a world class wrestler can shoot from out of punching range and there is no way someone with zero TDD is stopping it.
To the people saying that boxers aren't used to getting taken down - well it works both ways.
Wrestlers aren't used to getting punched in the face.
True but they do experience blows to head and face from elbows or hitting the mats hard.
So Brock Lesner vs Wlad???
As in Brock Lesnar a few years back? No.
I'm talking about a PURE Wrestler with no other MMA training. Not a Lesnar, Valasquez, Hughes, etc. aka former champion wrestlers who went to UFC.
as much as i think a wrestler wud win... i can see a heavy weight boxer jab out anther wrestler... like another poster has pointed out on how it is difficult to see a PUNCH coming, the jab from a heavyweight can be very dangerous, no? (rmbr its no gloves too)
also, take down from outside punching range, a boxer would actually be able to see the body coming in and move aside with average footwork.. unlike a wrestler (im guessing, i dont know too much about wrestling) cannot see a jab coming as easily.
edit: conclusion: heavyweight boxers probably have a better chance of beating wrestlers, while the lighterweights... probably dont have enough power in the jab to stop the wrestlers before takedowns.
I agree.
I think a HW boxer can do some damage vs a similar weight wrestler just because the KO power is so high.
You are usually right on in your post but this one is way off wrestlers dont just do freestyle or Greco they actually master both only difference is match rules but every wrestler knows every takedown in the book.
Yup.
Taking someone down who has zero TDD is remotely easy not to mention for a world class wrestler.
Is the boxer Glovokin or brittle hands Floyd that makes a difference Glovokin can knock out a wrestler Floyd can't so he'll get body slammed when he's doing the shoulder roll
I posted a few boxers in my OP..
A guy like GGG vs. a same weight wrestler...I think GGG beats him in an unarmed street fight.
I guess if you're always trying to make weight, my experience in wrestling was limited but I remember always being pushed hard during training.
Wrestling training is just as hard.
I pick boxer...
Olympic wrestlers without any mma cross training wouldn't know how to fight...so.
Wrestlers are elite in taking people down and controlling position. They can also throw you on the concrete. Once someone takes you down there really isn't anything technical to ground and pound.
Why boxing over Muay Thai for striking?
If they're not interested (or not as good) in throwing kicks, elbows, or knees, they at least know how to defend against them. Boxing doesnt teach how to perform them, or how to defend against them. Not to mention, they (boxing and Muay Thai) are equally explosive.
Fedor has said in the past there is no better combo than boxing and wrestling.
That wrestler looks like some big lug who will put a world of hurt on you
It's Artur Taymazov.
3 time Gold medalist. The guy was a beast. The only Boxer who think could beat him in a street fight would be a Prime Tyson.
If any boxer can possibly beat a wrestler, its gonna be someone who's quick on their feet, a big puncher and a backwards-mover, not a come-forward guy who wants inside fighting. The boxer wouldnt be able to risk being grabbed. Patience will be key with staying away from the wrestler's shooting and finding the right moment to land big from the outside. Maybe Wlad would be best.
I think a Prime Tyson could beat almost anyone in a street fight aside from a Prime Fedor.
Does it embarrass you that Dana White has made his crush the #1 draw in the UFC?
I'm a boxing fan first.
I think a guy like Tyson or Pacman would beat the crap out of a same weight wrestler but I think a guy like Floyd would get manhandled.
Yup, their sport is dwindling so much that they have been making new accounts here just to troll because there is nothing going on in their sport besides Dana White's crush on Ronda Rousey.
:lol1:
I'm a boxing fan first and not from that awful place sherdog.
Ok every one sayin a jab or punch would keep a wrestler at a distance try jabbing below your waist and see what kinda range you have. You get on punch at a wrestler before you eat concrete. Wrestlers takedowns are super explosive and can be done from a really low position . Watch ANY boxing vs wrestler, judo, bjj or mui thai and idk if a boxer has ever won that match half the time they dont get a chance to throw a punch before its over. Boxing is my favorite combat sport but to say they are the cream of the crop in street fights is obsurd
Exactly.
It's also much easier for someone to take someone down with no TDD then it is for someone to hit a moving target on the temple or chin.
If you don't have ringside seats or at least a couple rows behind, I can't see the point of buying tickets for a fight. I wouldn't even pay 40 to see a Mayweather fight if they were high up. Rather watch it on TV up close.
People need to specify when they say "Pro Boxer".
Are we taking about a World Champion or someone who found a Boxing manager off the streets and is fighting for 500 bucks at Native American Casinos?
That was probably the most chills I have gotten from watching Boxing/MMA in awhile. Miguel took a pounding that could be career threatening. Not good either way, but luckily that left hook hit him on the chin and not the temple or it could have been even more ugly.
