Majority, wrestler would win. Are you kidding me? Once you get suplex'd into the next millennium the pull counters, check hooks, and straight jabs don't mean ****.
The core strength that an Olympic wrestler utilizes would overwhelm a progressional boxer.
I dont think so. In my case, I was raised under boxing, but it's only recently my stubborn ass started seeing and learning about the superior effectiveness of MMA (i also started jui jitsu classes of late).
I imagine many people like me who were originally boxing fans are in the same boat, slowly making that same shift, so long they have access to that knowledge base. Dana White himself was strictly into boxing, and taught white-collar boxing before he learned about Jui-Jitsu. A lot of us are just late-bloomers, so that it spilled onto boxing forums shouldnt be a surprise.
Or maybe Im just taking this too seriously, and there are indeed a bunch of bored guys from Sherdog watching too much Manny Pacquiao these days.
Nah, I'd say it has more to do with you becoming more at ease with your own homosexuality without having to truly acknowledge it to others yet. That's the only plausible excuse for any grown man to be watching such cheap, tacky filth.
Dana White, despite the narrative he spins to gullible sort like you, has only ever been into helping middle aged women get into shape. He was a boxercise instructor before hanging up the leg warmers and spandex pants to get involved with promoting softcore gay p*rnography.

- I never said pure style existed in MMA nor did I even indirectly imply anything remotely close to that. You literally just made that up, very transparently (back to the intelligence thing).
I just quoted you above saying how one style > another.
This thread is like something out of 2005.
lol at karate masters GSP and Liddell. I hope you're trolling for your sake.
Why boxing over Muay Thai for striking?
If they're not interested (or not as good) in throwing kicks, elbows, or knees, they at least know how to defend against them. Boxing doesnt teach how to perform them, or how to defend against them. Not to mention, they (boxing and Muay Thai) are equally explosive.
Fedor has said in the past there is no better combo than boxing and wrestling.

Which is why I said kick boxing earlier (learn to check /throw kicks). Lets look at hendricks hes primarily a wrestler he uses lil to no leg kicks he uses his punches to set up the td . The traditional mui thai fighting style doesnt seem to fit well with wrestlers as well as boxing unless your Jon jones. These guys learn striking as a necessity as a back up incase the td isn't there or as a way to set it up wrestlers main goal is get you down control and break you
I pick boxer...
Olympic wrestlers without any mma cross training wouldn't know how to fight...so.
Wrestlers are elite in taking people down and controlling position. They can also throw you on the concrete. Once someone takes you down there really isn't anything technical to ground and pound.
Muay Thai EASILY over kickboxing, and BJJ over wrestling (though wrestling is super essential to learn at the same time). Everything else i agree with.
7/8 current champs come from a wrestling background as aldo is the bjj background.
Boxing is probably the best bet for a wrestler to learn some sort of striking . Guys who start out mainly in bjj have relied on just leverages and technique no unnecessary energy waste so they dont developer explosiveness in their strikes very few have any power. While wrestlers are built to strike and hit hard

I see that you got all shook up, but seriously without coming off as aggressive...you're either a troll or a noob.
Like it was pointed out already it comes down to the athlete, pure style doesn't exist in MMA anymore for the most part.
and yes it bugs me a lot when people say that boxing is not a fight, it's ignorant.
Agreed.
Does anyone know though, a little off topic, how much training Pro Boxers do when a fight isn't scheduled?
it completely defends on the nature of the fighter's career.
most boxers have day jobs, and probably take fights on very little notice. they'd stay in shape if they were active, and wait for the phone to ring. they'll do whatever they've got to do to prepare and make weight.
top fighters generally train 8-12 weeks, with heavy sparring tapering off before the fight, and no sparring on fight week. they go on "vacation" after they fight. this allows their bodies, hands, and faces to heal. guys who fight thrice a year don't have all that much time to get out of shape.
The best mma fighters are those with kick boxing wrestling as their main background .
Wrestling training is some of the most grueling in all combat sports period boxing is an 8 week training camp with really hard training than several months to recoup your body. In wrestling they are constantly training getting beat up . I challenge any boxer here to take one wrestling class before speaking on who would win . I did wrestling for years as well as boxing so I understand the work both require and can speak with experience and not just what I think

I thought this was asked only before MMA.
Anyway I think MMA has shown that it is not the style as much as the skill of the fighter. There are champs who are wrestlers (Lesnar, Coleman, Hughes) and those who are strikers (Liddell, Silva, St.Pierre).
Wrestling training is just as tough.
It is also much easier to become a Pro Boxer than an Olympic Wrestler.
They are two different types of activities. Being exhausted from grappling is not the same as being exhausted from punching. Boxing is tougher because you get punched during it all, only people who have actually tried it know what that feels like. Grappling doesn't deal with having to overcome brain trauma and body punishment while expending so much energy. There is a reason it's the most dangerous combat sport.
And I stand by what I said earlier. You are a troll. There is no reason to keep this off topic, controversial thread going in this section.
I guess if you're always trying to make weight, my experience in wrestling was limited but I remember always being pushed hard during training.

The training it takes to be a wrestler is tough, but the training it takes to be a boxer is tougher.
I'd have to go with the wrestler, you see wrestlers who aren't top heavy, then you see these boxers with massive upper bodies but skinny little legs...easy to take down.
