fighters who are notorious not for accepting defeats should learn a thing or two from augustus...
anyway, his fight with one of my favorites ever micky ward was just awesome to watch...
People watch Floyd cause he's easy on the eyes (no homo) its easy to see his punches, counters, footwork, shoulder rolls, the guy is smooth in the ring, his fights are like an art appreciation class.
his ability to adjust on the fly to tackle his foe accordingly is his best asset... (at least to me)
For Fact...............
-Manny Pacquiao
-Floyd Mayweather Jr
-Oscar De La Hoya
-Bernard Hopkins
-Roy Jones Jr
-Joe Calzaghe
-Felix Trinidad
what do u think about israel vasquez?
I always base it on who has had the tougher foes...
I have stated in the previous thread concerning Erik morales that only the true elite super bantams can beat morales @ 122..
Rafael, though great no doubt, still isn't elite enuf for Erik...
everybody's template for this topic are the two fights MP had with JMM and perhaps the first morales fight...
a time when MP was very different to what he is now...
thats why cotto, oscar and hatton lost...
MP is quite different fighter the last couple of years compared to what he once was...
the biggest threat to boxing is when manny pacquiao & floyd mayweather retires...
lets be real... The rest in the top 10 P4P doesnt hav any recognition beyond the hardcore fans...
just my 2 cents...
morales sits in his corner shaking his head after 5 and chooses to not get up
juanma cant even put away rogers mtagwa man... how much more a fighter of morales' calibre?
im not even sure he can handle morales victim paulie ayala...
kidding aside, I think pbf beats everyone in MP's resume... or any fighters resume from 130 to 147 in this era... except maybe oscar's resume with hopkins, prime mosley, quartey, trinidad and a very determined and young vargas on it...
Wazaa i recommend you watch a few of Ray Robinsons fights......cause you are fukking delusional
go to youtube and watch Robinson's fights with Lamotta, Basillio, Turpin and Fullmer
than come back here and tell us what you think
flashy moves & highlight reels sometimes translate to having a better skill to some...
whats his future look like?
retirement... or a fight with campbell, an overrated fighter just like him... it should be fun to listen to their pre-fight machismo and all...
Duran was also extremely adept at closing the distance and had very quick feet. Cotto isn't bad at that, but needless to say, he is no Duran.
For all the talk about how Leonard fought in a bad style for him that night, it was more consistent with his usual style than the dancer who showed up in the next two fights, and against Hagler. He was normally a flat-footed boxer who circled the ring. It's hard to do that when a swarmer like Duran is all over you.
maybe it has to do with all the comments team leonard let the press hear sometime after the fight... and , those who did the commentating and called the blow by blow account in that particular fight these people hear from the files in youtube... they were quite biased and all...:)
Joan Guzman is EVERY BIT AS TALENTED as Floyd Mayweather yet is one tenth of the fighter
good call... unfortunately, even having agapito sanchez, jorge barrios and humberto soto on one's resume may not be enuf to propel him to mainstream recognition...
what a waste...
i always recall tony ayala everytime i see this question...
same with scott harisson...
imagine james toney, roberto duran and wilfredo benitez if they had the dedication and discipline of say, a B-HOP or PBF...
I know that Floyd Mayweather JR is a "defensive wizard" or "master of defense" and when I watch other fighters try to be defensive, they dont look half as good or efficient as he does. It's almost like Floyd Mayweather has armor around him thats practically impenetrable.
Though, I can't seem to find other boxers who have AS good defensive skills if not better. Only other person I can come up with is Pernell Whitaker and he was really elusive more than reflective or blocking. Call me new but I'm here to learn.
So who else can there be? What makes em stand out too?
look for some footage of nicolino locce... i feel you will do some serious reconsiderations after watching...:)
