I need clarification from Cortez on how he saw the incident. Did he tell them to fight on? Did he resume time? Why was he not in control of the fight and how could he rule it a legal KD if he was looking elsewhere?
You can clearly see Mayweather look at Cortez before he throws the punches. He knows exactly what he is going to do. Protect yourself at all times because you aren't always fighting an honourable opponent.
It's hard to have much sympathy for Ortiz after the headbutt. The only defensible thing about the headbutt was that it was mindless and erratic whereas the sucker punch was cold and calculated.
A case of Marquez doing better than expected and Pac. not doing as well as expected so slants opinion. Pac. won the fight for me but I can see why others think otherwise. Marquez should have made an effort to take the fight more to win this fight.
Soooooo it wasn't sad to see him lose was it?
I put a lot of time in supporting and watching him. Have you never had conflicting thoughts before? I'm a fan of his but I don't trust the sport. It makes me doubt everything now.

Required reading for all. Anything he does is a problem....because he has many people who hate him with a passion....no matter what they say before a fight they always find a way to discredit him and rewrite history.......it won't be any diff if he beats SSM and Pac in 2010.......revisionist history will kick in by 2011 and he will be ducking PWill.
I'm talking about the fact to Floyd "Belts gather dust". Floyd fans don't want to see Floyd earn $50 million. They want to see him fight and beat the best fighters out there.
Perhaps it's an English thing where talking about money is seen as vulgar and there is a different attitude in America towards money.
Boxing fans want to be entertained and see the top fighters battle it out to see who is the greatest. Mayweather is a world class fighter who should fear no one. We aren't talking about some bum who is going into a ring to be knocked out for someone else's warm up.
Mayweather is in a position where he does not need to worry about money. People on this forum need to worry about feeding their kids. The concept of a multi millionaire saying he needs to feed his kids is a joke. He can take the purse from his next fight and put it into an account for his kids and they'd be set for life.
I do believe he cares about his record. I believe he wants to go undefeated and he avoids fights to maintain that record so I don't think he is being completely honest.
Floyd chosing money over legacy is something that i hate as a boxing fan but that i could understand as a man.
Good point. As a boxing fan it is hard to respect him as a boxer though easy to admire his talent.
Neither will wasting money on his lifestyle. He has more money than everyone who responds to this thread combined. Probably more than we'll all make in our lifetimes combined. His family are going to be fine.
Looks like its PE time,
these cats don't want none!
Hard for Floyd fans to defend him. Floyd wants his fans money rather than to entertain them or prove himself.
Belts gather dust, didn't you know? Why fight Manny for $20m and risk losing when you can fight someone you are sure you will beat for the same money and be in another position to fight for the same money in the future? He wants to make enough money for his family and it is hard to do that and buy a fleet of sports cars.
Why prove yourself to be the best when you can just tell everyone that you are? "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." That's why Floyd has so many fans.
I watched the fight with German commentary so could not understand what was said and I thought Holyfield should have won. I'm English so no American bias. I watched it with my girlfriend who has hardly even seen boxing outside of Rocky movies and she could not understand how Holyfield did not win. Perhaps her lack of boxing knowledge shows something and explains why the majority picked Holyfield and the expert judges did not. Or perhaps it was clear to any old idiot that Holyfield won.
Boring fight but the way Holyfield moved around the ring at his age and in his weight division for 12 rounds was very impressive. He used his vast experience well and tactically did the right things given the huge gulf in size. The Russian had no game plan except to hope for Holyfield to stand still so he could hit him.
