I still say it's a publicity stunt and he won't fight Wilder next. Joshua is the real cash cow and who both Wilder and Fury want to face for a big payday. Notice they are both still trash talking Joshua, even whilst they are supposedly on the cusp of finalizing a deal to fight each other.
Notice that Fury is now saying the Wilder deal will be finalized after the Pianeta fight. Fury stands to gain from this charade because he get's to sell more PPV buys for the Pianeta fight, people will want to see him square up to Wilder at the end of the fight. He also get's to drum up interest in a potential fight with Joshua and wind up Eddie Hearn. He's letting people know that he's still around and keeping his name in the headlines.
Wilder stands to gain from it temporarily from a reputational point of view, making a "deal" with the the lineal champion so quickly and making Joshua's team look bad, he's trying to force their hand to come back to the negotiating table.
After the Pianeta fight negotiations over the proposed Fury vs Wilder fight will fizzle out and come to nothing...at least for now. I think it's more likely that Fury fights Chisora again next and Wilder fights Breazeale.
Its funny you guys constantly bring up the klits win which was a decent win for AJ but Klitz already lost to fury and struggled with lesser fighters before that. he was laid off for almost 2 years and came right back to the AJ fight with no warm ups. The same fans who big up that win are crying that fury who was off like 1 1/2 years and will have had 2 tune ups will not be ready for wilder. I don't get it!
Did Wlad balloon several stone in weight between his fights and spend most of that time drinking and snorting cocaine? Was Wlad by his own confession mentally ill?
Fury at his best is a really good heavyweight and well deserved his win against Wlad. Fury at his best would probably beat Joshua. If Fury is anywhere near his best then Wilder deserves credit for beating him. But will he be a shadow of his former self? I think it's almost certain that Fury beats Pianeta, but you now what I think i'm going to round bet and stick a couple of quid on Pianeta, mental illness isn't something that just disappears, maybe Fury has a break down and quits on his stool half way through the fight? You just never know...
My own theory is that Fury isn't actually back because he loves boxing again, I think he's spent all his money from his first run and he wants to cash in.
I still doubt that Fury Vs Wilder will happen this year, maybe next year...MAYBE.
The biggest question is why would Fury want to fight Wilder so soon after making his comeback with only having a couple of tune up fights?
My theory is that Fury's mental state is more fragile than we are led to believe and that he could go off the rails again at any moment. He could have also spent all of his money from the Klitschko fight on drugs, fast cars and booze or whatever and he desperately needs the money.
I think we'll get an indication tonight whether he is serious or not. If he's just come back for the money Pianeta could K.O him, it's unlikely but...
I don't like Wilder but i'd say there is a 90% chance he beats Breazeale, only chance I give Breazeale is if chicken legs sustains an injury during the fight. Having said that how many people had Douglas to beat Tyson?
I doubt Fury - Wilder will happen this year, for all the reasons that have previously been detailed. Say what you want about Hearn but he was right. Fury has got people talking about him again and Wilder has got his three or four fans excited about the possibility of him having a big fight. Mission accomplished for both men. Fury will fight Chisora next and Wilder will probably fight Breazeale.
We'll see. I don't have time for the b/s arguments, but this time next year I expect Joshua will still have the better record and Wilder still won't have fought anybody noteworthy.
