And i know Homes was past his prime when they fought but he was still good enough to go 12 with Holyfield 4 1/2 years later.
Well Holmes always had a good jaw and Holy was never a devastating puncher.
lmao, I seriuosly doubt tyson got raped in prison.
Yeah, I mean i'm pretty sure there were guys that could have done it, but they would have been too scared to try.
Pacquiao leading the poll is exactly right. That's just being truthful. Doesn't matter if Roy was "untouchable", you're talking about skills, not accomplishments, and skills don't really factor into ATG lists. It's what you achieve that makes you highly regarded, no matter if you're flawed.
I watched Roy in his prime, so for me it's nothing to do with being young. My introduction to boxing was Ali late in the 70's.
So what two young future Hall of Famers did Pacman take out?
I couldn't disagree more.
Yes Hearns has advantages in height and reach. But Floyd is quicker, is a more balanced fighter, has better defense and technique is a better counterpuncher and has a better chin.
There is a false logic out there than a bigger longer man is who beats Floyd. I feel a defensive fighter has the best chance. In the few moments in which Floyd struggle in his career is when he could not get his offense going. He opens himself up a bit and is easier to hit.
I think Sweet Pea and Leonard would've have given him a better fight.
Getting back to Hearns and Floyd. I have seen him against tall fighters he has always excelled (non of those guys compare to Hearns) but you have to judge based on the evidence that is before you. I have seen Hearns outboxed, and knocked out late by Leonard. Floyd is of that cloth.
Why are some of you guys talking like Hearns is going to stand back and play tag with Floyd? Leonard had power, something Floyd doesn't have. Hearns won't think twice about just coming in and mauling him.
Premise 1: McGregor has the chance to earn 75 million dollars only if he follows the strict rules of a Boxing match.
Premise 2: McGregor is a father now whose biggest priority in life is to setup his child for life.
Conclusion: McGregor will not under any circumstances headkick, Floyd.
Sources??? Video???
Jeff isn't exactly in the loop on contract language
Uhh....im certain that it is fairly easy for him to obtain that information whether he is directly involved in the negotiations or not.
Remember recently Dr. Laura a radio host was given all this attention by the main stream media for using the N word. Mayweather is huge boxing star and you better believe that the media as CNN wont cover it.
If Pacquiao said that Mayweather was fried chicking eating monkey he would be destroyed and so would his boxing career, Al Sharpton would be asking his sponsors to leave him.
What double standard, i am not black or asian, just calling a spade a spade, so keep the flames to yourselves flomos.
Eh, I don't know about that, but if Pacman was White that is what would happen. The whole White Black thing is a sensitive spot in the States.
Why is this difficult for people to get. When there is a tragic history tied to a people group, the sensitivities are greater, especially when the comments are in some way related to that tragic history. That is why you can insult Italians and Irish all day long but not Jews. Learn to live with it.
Chuck's ego is too big to take down Toney. He would love to KO a former champ and future boxing Hall Of Famer. If Chuck wouldnt kick,I would actually give Toney a good chance. Toney's hands are way better than Liddell's.
HAHAHA kicking would be irrelevant here, believe me.
thats such a stupid matchup. Most ufc fighters suck but Couture is at least a decent wrestler. He'll just submit fat old Toney.
Toney is to old to prevent any take downs.
if thisd fight happens its just to make stupid ufc fans think ufc is better than boxing. Horrible matchup for Toney.
Yeah, i mean if their going to put him up against a pure grappler (rather than against someone who would test their mythical striking/kicking skills) they could atleast put him up against a guy trained for the most part in their own gyms, not against a former Olympic trials wrestler lol.
Well obviously he could hand the piece of leather and plastic they gave him over to Pacquiao, but does he even have the power to transfer the title and reverse the decision?
u mean when a guy shows slickness his whole career, wins 7 world title fights against top opponents, never lost a fight, and is regarded one of the best pound4pound fighters in the world for YEARS, then he is "not slick"? let me see your explanation: u watch how Pacquiao makes Bradley look average and not slick at all and now you think Bradley is a bum? only a complete fool would think that. it just shows how good Pacquiao is, and not how bad Bradley is. If you see a guy like Eddie Chambers get smashed by Klitschko, it doesnt mean Chambers is the biggest bum in the world, it just means Klitschko is too good for him. And Im not comparing Chambers to Bradley now cause Bradley is better than Chambers.
You didn't make a point here. He won world titles, that doesn't make him slick. he's actually incredibly sloppy from a technical standpoint.
Apparently you just ignored everyone that was saying that about him prior to the fight and paid attention to the people hyping it up.
How about you watch his fights?
That's a good way to form your own opinion.
Boxrec really isn't a good source of learning about fighters other than records
Boxingrec actually makes him look better than his fights do.
lol I like the guy personally, I'd be really happy if he won, but I just don't see it.
Good record on paper.
...full props if he admits he lost..
Arum said Bradley told the promoter in the ring before the scorecards were turned in, "Manny's a great fighter. I tried as hard as I could, but I came up short." -La Times.
Nah, the hype behind Bradley wore off almost immediately last night. Not even the folks who predicted Bradley would win were impressed. It was just a mismatch; he's not elite.
I never bought into the hype, so maybe that's why I wasn't as disappointed.
grossly overrrated by his p4p rankings & undefeated record.
another undefeated fighter that got exposed & wasnt as good as his undefeated record.
& i was one of those posters that was touting his place in the rankings.
I was one of the ones who said that his place in the rankings meant nothing and that he didn't have the skills for this fight simply based on what I had seen from him with my own eyes, but he actually impressed me, he was better than I thought. I thought it would be a blowout for Pac.
ummm lol, it was a blowout
Haha, yeah but I meant I thought Bradley would get seriously hurt.
Let's put it like this, I didn't expect him to do better than Oscar and Cotto.
it was a blowout from a scorecard standpoint (even though the actually scorecards were bogus)..
Good Post!!!!!! Sometimes public opinion is more important and everyone knows what they saw. This decision actually hurts Bradley more than a loss , and it will follow him the rest of his career!
Well it wouldn't if it were possible for him to pull off a win next time (because if he had lost he might be out of the picture).
The real question is, is a win even possible now in a rematch with a pissed off Pac. He may have blown his best chance at a legit win on Saturday night with that pirouette he did.
he's obviously declined, but he could still beat Floyd.
No one expects him to out box him, he could possibly knock him out though.
Not performing like he did against one legged Bradley
.....couldn't do SH'T to Pacquiao. And I thought Bradley might beat Pacquiao before the fight BECAUSE of his skills.
But I have never seen Pacquiao's defense work as well as it did last Saturday cause Bradley BARELY hit him with clean punches. Marquez hit him with some solid punches in their 3rd fight, but Bradley couldn't land ANYTHING clean on Pacquiao. While Pacquiao was rocking him almost at will and landing all the meaningful punches in this fight.
I know there was always a debate Pacquiao doesnt fight african-american fighters.- Okay, Mosley was past his prime, but Bradley is as prime as anyone ever was. Bradley is an accomplished, highly skilled boxer and he couldnt do NOTHING to Pacquiao.
The decision was a joke, Pacquiao clearly won the fight and we all know it.
So where are the pple who say Pacquiao cant win against slick african american boxers? Cause those who know boxing know that Bradley was probably the number 1 man to beat Pacquiao or at least he was one of the most dangerous opponents for him.
Bradley was never slick, he's just "African American", and only the extremely niave and people trying to hype the fight thought Bradley was the best bet to beat Pacman..
If he doesn't have the power to get Manny's attention and he has a lower work rate, the only thing left for him is to be such a good technical Boxer that he just outclasses Manny.
People around him say he plans to play the short man and get down real low. Best strategy to use against Pacman in my opinion but does he have the skill to pull it off?
His accomplishments are good on paper and he hasn't gone out of his way to duck people, but have his previous bouts really prepared him for this?
Glad I'm not the only one who could see that. People have been scaring me with their blindness and general ignorance. Pacquiao all but completely took Bradley's heart within the first few rounds. Like I commented in a thread that night; even my GF was saying "...what's wrong with Bradley?? Why isn't he trying..?"
I think his "handicapp" had something to do with that. I don't think anyone below 160 pounds is going to remain confident standing in front of Manny Pacquiao with one leg.
