I am reminded of the end of the Hagler/Hearns Legendary Night special:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB7oN4ORkHg&t=5m8s
When great fighters takes chances...put's it all on the line and go to war, they may get knocked out or lose the fight, but what they get in return is immortality.
Even the very greatest of “boxers" (Sugar Ray Robinson) knew this.
Mayweather......not so much.
The saddest part of these pro Mayweather comments, is that none of them express any actual love of boxing.
It's all self-vindicating “me against the world” bullsh*t, totally in line with their love of the brazen-path finding-black-entrepreneur aspect of their unlikable hero.
I thought it was a close round but gave it to Froch, case could be made for Kessler more but I thought Froch had more success

I just don't see it.
Seriously?
Come on,you are a great poster don't fall into fanboy shit,Froch clearly won,you could make an argument for 7-5 (like you could in the first fight, which you kept banging on about) but thats it,the better man won on the night, both guys are warriors, its thats simple
I too had it close.
Round 1: 10-10 (Draw)
Round 2: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 3: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 4: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 5: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 6: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 7: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 8: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 9: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 10: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 11: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 12: 10-09 (Froch)
115-114 Froch.
No i agree and see what you're saying
I was watching it in the pub and vould hear the commentary where they were saying that was a 50/50 round etc, when i thought Kessler had clearly done enough to edge it
But hey man its all subjective, the fight was close
How did you score it round-by-round?
Here is my card
Round 1: 10-10 (Draw)
Round 2: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 3: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 4: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 5: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 6: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 7: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 8: 10-09 (Froch)
Round 9: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 10: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 11: 10-09 (Kessler)
Round 12: 10-09 (Froch)
115-114 Froch.
I guess round 1 and 10 could be where I'm wrong.
I wonder what a 06-07 version of Kessler could have done in this fight.
To me he is more mobile and varied in his attacks with Jimmy Montoya, but his combination punching was just killer back then (the Librado Andrade fight in particular).
In the last few years he has rarely landed more than 1 or 2 punches in a row.
I had it 116-113,i thought it was close but clear, much like the first fight in Kessler's favour
I agree.
But I don't get the reaction to round 9 and 10 from most ring experts.
Especially round 9.
I had it 116-112 for Froch, he clearly won it. If Kessler wanted to win he had to be more busy, Froch was busy and landing shots, Kessler landed some hard shots but were not enough to get the win on my card. I don't think there is a need for a third fight as I believe Froch would come away with a win even more decisively if there ever was another fight. I wanted Kessler to win but, Froch was too active, thus getting the win.
How did you score round 9?
I thought Kessler won decisively.
Nobody else gave that round for Kessler.

Yeah, I think it was more Kesslers legs that looked as if he were sometimes hurt. He's shown an incredible chin, one of the best at the top for a long time, over his career. I think what's going, or gone, is his legs. Very shaky to me and his reflexes, countering and combinations weren't there at all. He should give it away or have one more big fits to finish on in Denmark. Maybe a 175 title fight.
Kessler always want to be in "perfect" position when he fights.
As he has slowed down, he is looking more awkward and shaky when he tries to regain his position.
Look at him doing the same thing in his prime:

Calzaghe UD Prime Kessler
With Richard Olsen as trainer (who's most sophisticated advice is "punch more, punch harder, just keep punching him")
Kessler was unable to adapt in that fight because he had a loser drunk in his corner (and I can verify that in person). Just give him a decent trainer like Jimmy Montoya and the Calzaghe fight would look quite different.
Gtfoh......Floyd beat the ish outta the "legend" Marquez.....would want to see Floyd-jmm 2? Yea thought so.
No rebuttal with a link to a great Mayweather fight? Yea thought so.
Using a calculated and unfair catch-weight fight as an argument
Reasons why Bob Arum made this happen (and he absolutely did).
1. Get public sympathy back to Manny after the Marquez decision.
2. Getting another "in-house" fight against a light punching opponent.
3. Postponing any chance of a Mayweather fight for at least a year.
