First off, the brother is far from ignorant. He made some very valid pts most of which was summed by the stmt chronicling the avg person in this country (white or otherwise) would be hard pressed to walk in the avg person of color's shoes. You can't reverse or rationalize slavery, the three-fifths clause, jim crow laws, rampant discrimination & segregation, the draggings, the hangings, the raping & pillaging, the inception of the kkk..hell, you can't even reverse or rationalize what's happening w/ the Jena 6 case where you have (at best) simple assault (with all parties involved..black & white) for first time offenders who at worst shouldve either been fined, rec. light probation, or in all rationale..the charges thrown out. All b/c some mofos couldnt sit under a fuckin' tree. Im not an "angry black man". The facts speak for themselves..it is what it is. White folks were some dimented..cold bastards back in day. As for today, the racism & discrimination still exists but the format is much diff. Im personally not phased or interested in what the avg caucasion thinks of me cause he or she is in no better position than me. They dont effect my paper or my standard of living. Im more concerned w/ the powers that be (which just so happen to be white) who will shit on other whites, blacks, latinos, & whoever else in order to get what they want. Bush sent everybody (all races) over to the middle east (for his own personal crusade). It wasnt just one particular race being placed in harms way.
As for Bhop's comment, it may have been in poor taste. I personally wouldnt have given a damn if joe c. had responded by saying "I wont allow a black man to whoop me either". It wasnt like he said 'whitey', 'cracker', or 'pale face'. You not calling me out of term by referring to me as a "black", brown or whatever. Calling me ****** or coon might get you put in a hospital bed or a box, but other than that fuck what anybody says. Everything is this country used to be firmly about black & white..now the black & white has taken a firm backseat to green. At the end of the day, both hopkins & calzaghe take home multi million dollar checks for an hour's worth of work (or less)..so who gives a shit about black man this or white boy that. Talk about the fight..not the politricks.
See? My post was intended to detract from the political crap that was being spewed by one poster, and you replied with more political crap and then tried to pretend that you wanted to talk about the fight. Its easy for you to pretend you wouldnt care if Calzaghe said "I will never lose to a black dude", but trust me, if it happened, it would be newsworthy, you would be angry, and you would probably post about it. :gives:
As far as the fight is concerned? I've been doubting Hopkins skills since he turned 40, and I've been doubting Calzaghe's skills since his surprise win over Left Hook. So for me its a clash of two fighters who continually prove me wrong. I can't pick either fighter because the other will prove me wrong. Calzaghe throws more punches than anyone B-Hop has ever faced. How do you come up with a gameplan against that? If he just tries to neutralize the punchrate, we're in for a lot of running and Bhop still gets outworked in a UD for Calz. If Bhop decides to offset Calzaghes workrate with his own high output, it could be quite a scrap, and Bhop may be able to hurt Calz and possibly get a stoppage... although its unlikely Bhop will be able to throw 500-1000 punches in the fight.
Its a pick'em fight for me.
