Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya thinks a mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao has a good chance of never taking place in the future. Speaking with Sky Sports, De La Hoya is leaning in the direction of Shane Mosley to beat Mayweather on May 1. If that happens, De La Hoya doesn't think the much talked boxing showdown will ever take place.

"I'm having my doubts now because Floyd Mayweather Jr is fighting Shane Mosley, and the interesting part about that fight is that Sugar Shane has the best shot at beating Floyd Mayweather," De La Hoya said.

De La Hoya fought both Mosley and Mayweather; losing two decisions to Mosley and dropping one to Mayweather. He predicts a knockout ending, while hinting Mosley will be the one to score it.

"I've faced both guys and I have to say that there is going to be a knockout in that fight - and it's not going to be pretty. I believe Mayweather is the best boxer, purist boxer, in the sport today. He fights to survive, which is the most dangerous boxer out there," De La Hoya said.

If Mayweather and Pacquiao ever did lock up, De La Hoya picks Floyd to win based on their styles. He thinks Mayweather does very well against aggressive fighters.

"I would have to say Floyd Mayweather [wins], because of styles. I believe Pacquiao would come in, try to get his punches in and be very aggressive. But that plays into Mayweather's hands. He's such a defensive, purist boxer. The best there ever has been. He waits for you to make mistakes and then capitalises," De La Hoya said.
