There’s been some absolute sh*t spouted on this post. Regardless of what anyone says about Beckham, he is and has been for some years the best long ball player out there. There are players like Riquelme and Kaka that have the vision but don’t churn out the balls as regular as Becks does. Someone posted, “he doesnt specialise in insicive through balls”, that is the single most stupid comment I have ever read. Beckham doesn’t go round people, he’s not likely to go on a mazy dribble but what he does do, amongst other things, is make insicive through balls. If there’s any doubt about that have a look at the highlight of the last England game on ‘youtube’, it was against Estonia. I think some people haven't got a clue about football. There are players I’d rather have than Becks, and he’s not half the player in the middle as he is on the right but he’s still quality and would walk into any Premiership side in the country. So what about the media attention, he’ll be in every tabloid and every glossy magazine, who cares. It’s a fantastic buy and he’ll generate a lot of cash for LA Galaxy too. I don’t see why his move's an issue, I’d have rather seen him back in the prem as he's head and shoulders above the MLS standard but nevermind, we've got Stevie G.

As for Hobson's $10 million offer to make the fight in the UK, why not offer, PBF can only say no, which he no doubt will, so what! For starters i think it's wrong to band the word coward about, especially where world class boxers are concerned, it just makes you look a tw*t. I'm not a Pretty Boy fan at all, can't stand him, having said that, you cannot help but acknowledge the fact he's an awesome boxer, regardless of what anyone says. Also if you think most current fighters have not at some point avoided certain fights, not out of fear as such but political reasons (ie. money, marketability) you're being very naive. How a guy can go from super-featherweight, to lightweight, to light-welterweight, to welterweight, to light middleweight beating some of the best if not the best along the way, and picking up world titles in each can be considered a coward is ridiculous. Hate him if you want, i'm not at all keen, but come on, this guy deserves credit. :boxing:

How does Margarito’s loss have any bearing on how much people hate Mayweather or how much they advertise it. Also, if anyone says Mayweather’s not an amazing boxer then you’d be a stupid to even take any notice. I personally can’t stand PBF and I’d love to see him floored but that’s not to say he’s not an exceptional boxer. I just can’t stand his attitude, having said that I wouldn’t change it for the world. When you talk about natural ability, speed; both defensively and when he’s on the attack, footwork and accuracy Kahn is easily one of the best we’ve got. I don’t see how you can watch him fight compared to the bulk of british fighters and not tell there is a distinct difference. Don’t get me wrong, not for one second do I think it’s a good thing to over-hype someone, especially when as of yet they’ve not achieved anything (at least not as a pro). Like you’ve said we saw what it did to Audley but there’s two reasons why that shouldn’t mean anything, one; I think a good amatuer record means more going into the lower weight divisions and two; everyone’s different, you’ve got to give the kid a chance. There is such a negative attitude towards british boxers, namely from british boxing fans and it’s such a shame. It must stem from how much better American fighters have been in the past but I think we’re really beginning to bridge the gap. We have some superb fighters now, infact I’d go as far to say never before have we had so many talented boxers at one time; Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye, Woods, Mitchell and Kahn to name a few. That’s just going on ability too not results. It’s an exciting time to be a british boxing fan and although it’s sensible to not buy into the hype too much on the other side of the coin enjoy it. Interesting to note that you don't think Cotto draining his body to make the Light welterweight limit was the reason he didn't stomp Malignaggi, It's no coincidence that his fight against Paulie was his last at 140. Hence, if a weight drained Cotto couldn't KO Malignaggi, a natural LW in Hatton has no chance? What an idiot, that's all i can say. Khan’s a more talented boxer than Thaxton, you can’t debate that, but if he’d have boxed the way he did on Saturday night against Jon Thaxton I think he might have found himself losing.

Malignaggi hasn’t got the power to ‘whoop’ on anybody, but fair play to him, he’s putting his name in the hat which has to be done. I think we’ll almost certainly see a Hatton/Malignaggi fight at some point.

first time down was against ricky.....if turning around, walking away & taking a knee from a liver shot is your version of getting knocked down (maybe more like taking a knee b/c he can't breathe, ur are making it sound like hatton blasted him off his feet) but.....castillo was tko 5x before ricky did it....once in 2 rds (against soto)....actually before he got way to much credit for hanging/arueably beating pbf.....he was tko'd 4x (mostly avg opponents) Gman bx: Castillo was knocked out, it was officially a KO and officially Castillo’s first. The ref didn’t step in to save Castillo thus it wasn’t a TKO and if Castillo’s forced to take a knee unable to breathe because of a shot the HBO commentator said “I’ve only ever seen twice in my life” then that is probably even more emphatic. Plus you don’t actually disagree with anything I said, so what your point is I don’t know, unless you’re just trying to water down Ricky’s victory, which I suspect you are. Like I’ve said it is easy to look at fights, stats, records etc and do a demolision job to suit your opinon, you won’t change my opinion of Hatton because I’ve based it on years of watching him, his attitude and his ability. I think he’s a superb boxer, I think he would beat Malignaggi. I think if he grew into the weight comfortabley he’d have a 50/50 chance of beating Cotto, and I think depending on how long he could maintain the required pace/levels of pressure, he’d have a 50/50 chance of beating Mayweather.

I think Marquez will fight pacman next year at some point but bearing in mind Manny/Barrera is on for October, Marquez is fighting Barrios in September so he couldn’t fight either of them anyway. Plus I think Manny/Barrera has got more to do with Top Rank and Golden Boy patching things up. One of the great thing about the feather-weights is, more often than not we get to see the fights we want to.

Could you not see my last sentence was a mock re-working of the one that claimed Ricky has no chance of KOing Malignaggi? I was making the point that Cotto being weight drained was a possible reason for him not stopping Paulie, and thus Hatton, a guy who has no problems at LW at all stands a good chance, maybe an even better chance of stopping Malignaggi than Miguel. I think I also said that Hatton would stop Malignaggi late in the fight, in a post I made a few weeks ago. Bye bye Idiot. well....a quick jab kept hatton off collazo who also isn't known for a punch....& all those punches over rds, even if u aren't a big puncher, add up.....like when hatton was visably hurt & holding on at the end of the collazo fight (which i think if u don't give that fight to collazo, it should have been a draw)....... styles make fights, & this fight could be similar to collaz-hatton. as far as people talking about ricky overwhelming him.....in a SMALL ring, fighting injured for most of the fight, PM held his own w/ cotto who's a come forward animal & much, much harder puncher than hatton. outside of the liver shot against a half shot castillo, ricky hasn't ko'd or really hurt anyone in a while.....he's not know for his power, more like his work rate & HIT & HOLD STYLE (let's be fair, i get on floyd a bit for hitting & running.....Hatton is the opposite, he hits & holds.....something a few people were talking about in his last few fights) You’ve made some decent points but in fairness you can look at previous fights, KO ratio’s etc and pretty much come up with any conclusion that suits your opinion of a given fighter. For instance if you take into account how much better Ricky fights when he’s trained properley, compared to the 6 weeks he had to reach welter before Collazo, you could just as easily argue it could’ve been a different fight. Infact it probably would’ve been very different, stamina was the biggest factor for me as far as the Collazo fight goes, and given more time to grow into the weight, he’d have been much fitter I’m sure. As far as the old ‘hit & hold’ theory goes, I’m a huge Hatton fan, but there’s no getting away from it, he does employ this tactic, and he does it bloody well. Also, you can forget that ‘small ring’ comment. What Ricky does better than anyone and gets little credit for is cut the ring off, he’s always on top of you, working inside. I think Paulie Malignaggi’s a superb boxer, but in my opinion he wouldn’t be able to withstand the pressure Ricky can lump on, whether he got through the Cotto fight or not.

I might actually like to see this fight, because all thoughts would lead to Ricky Hatton making Malignaggi quit, but Malignaggi might be able to out "tap" Hatton all night...but overall I think it will be a boring fight, because who wants to see Hatton chase Malignaggi all night... "Phuck that I want to see Hatton and Cotto right now, and the winner fight Mayweather for a Super Fight" I believe that's the best all three can do right now... Mayweather is on top of the Hill, and Cotto is quickly rising and Hatton has just been hanging somewhere near the top. Cotto vs. Hatton and the winner gets Mayweather, nothing more nothing less, anything else would be pure bullshit I’m much the same, I’d rather see Hatton fight Mayweather than Malignaggi or Cotto though. I think Malignaggi would be a decent fight, Cotto could prove an upset for Hatton fans (myself included) though, and that would prove it harder to get a shot at Pretty Boy whome I want to see Ricky fight.
