The distance between him and the young talent in boxing is not close enough for him to stay around for that long (Khan, Ortiz, Canelo). After the JMM rubber-match, and a fight w/ Floyd (fingers crossed) there is nothing else in the world of boxing that I would ever ask of him; except to leave the game - healthy - and go off to take care of his country.
I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of the last 2-3 years left of Pacquiao because I'm guessing it will be quite a while until we see a humble guy like this, who just wants to fight.
In Sergio's last fight against Dzinziruk looked like he knew the clock was winding down. I think he's mid-to-late 30's and his style is running on overtime. I agree that he's top 3 P-4-P, but he's got maybe two years tops of him being "The Guy."
Pacquiao won't happen, and I doubt Floyd would do it - although he could time Sergio by the second. I don't know why Martinez-Ward wouldn't steal the show in 2012.
Best for Boxing? Ward. Easy.
A young, aggressive American that can get down to fighting middleweights - possibly. I think he's just entering his prime and is game to do what's best for the sport.
I love Froch and his style, but I see so many limitations on his abilities - at least at the highest level of boxing - and think he is more suited in the brawler role. Case-and-point, I have not see many fights more exciting than his war with Pascal. Heart of a champ? With out a doubt. Skills of one? Meh.
gotcha!
"Pac-man is the best ever. Floyd is a woman beater and ducks the best. And let's not forget that Nonito Donaire is clearly juicing like a florida farm-hand."
just a little something from my exclusive interview with Kellerman.
I just read the Iran Barkley story, which was pretty quick, and it's criminal that these promotional companies can't figure something out after exploiting these guys.
Thanks for the feedback...makes me think about staying outside the ropes.
I actually was about to post this same question, a little differently though. I started a blog to get my passive boxing friends more involoved and 1 section is top spirited fighters.
I was gonna ask this site's opinion for their top 5 fighters or so and put it up on my blog. Thanks for doing all the legwork for me!!
I won't miss:
pacquiao
mayweather
martinez
guerrero
ortiz
hopkins
donaire
btw; you can catch my little blog at 4cornersboxing.tumblr.com
I'll be updating that section every few months. Thanks guys!
I am anticipating Canelo to take this fight serious...a lot more serious than the average fan is taking it...and I hope he looks even more impressive than his fight with Rhodes.
Gomez has been putting together some nice performances, after getting rocked, and the difference is the confidence he has been fighting with. Unfortunately, none of those Top Rank fringe fighters are in Canelo's stratesphere.
One way or the other, this fight ends early. Ohh and that rap is on-par with being as terrible as a sergio mora performance.
