these calzaghe guys keep setting themselves up it's almost too easy
"He wouldn't get on a plane. He said he had a fear of flying. Yet I can remember after one fight he flew to the West Indies for a holiday!

Woody Allen would invariably raise a titter by saying it was not the actual flying he was afraid of, it was the crashing. Until recently that joke would barely have raised a wan smile from Joe Calzaghe whose long-delayed US debut is partially a result of his deep-rooted fear of flying.

Calzaghe’s shyness is what has held him back; that and his fear of flying, which is one of the reasons for his reluctance to test himself in the US.

lol lol man you crazy calzaghe fought in Germany, Denmark and United States he flu around the world to beat all the top guy
who did he duck?..........be careful now......or it will be checkmate
Dont deflect, we are talking about Joe not Roy. You were asking and I answered. Now all you are doing now is looking at their record at the end of their careers or till now. If you were a fan back then then you know those guys brought something to the table. You are now trying to fit it so it can look good with your agenda. I never said that Joe wasn't a good fighter either. So by your analogy Joe should had fought Tarver sometime before he KOed Jones.
Do a little research and watch some of those fights

2 out of 4 not bad 50% i guess !!!
On the time frame and at the weight he was at Collins,
Ottke, Glenn Johnson. Most of his challenges were at a weight above him which he didnt take.
name the so called fighters a weight above him which he didnt take?......
Slappy was stuck between a rock (MW division) and a hard place (LHW division) so he *****ed in and refused to challenge himself.
calzaghe beat eubank, bhop, jones and two undefeated world champions the only man in HISTORY to hold every belt at 168....46-0=46 . REMEMBER THAT
Calzaghe gets zero respect from me.
Nobody knew who Calzaghe was back then. Calzaghe should have went to the US and try to make a name for himself. But he was too much of a p*ssy to do that. Even his promoter Frank Warren has said that he actually had to almost force Calzaghe to fight Lacy. His promoter was more confident about Calzaghe beating Lacy than Calzaghe himself.
Prime Roy and prime Hopkins both kill him. Even a past prime Hopkins beat him.
The guy p*ssied out of a Glen Johnson fight 3 times.
He is a disgrace. I wish he was never born.
you wish he was never born?........here's your:bottle:
lol AND YOU NO THAT you are so stupid you can't even structure a proper sentence.
man you aint got no job you broke sat at your parents computer with no shoe on
The Ring Magazines Fighter of the Year
http://static.boxrec.com/wiki/3/3c/RING.2005.VolumeIII.jpg
just show's how good jones and tarver was losing to a guy with 9 loses
glen johnson 14 loses you tell me he was the man to take the 0 from joe
LOl LOl listen .....johnson went to middleweight had no success then he went to 168 had no success beat roy jones after that he had ON SUCCESS
THE GUY IS A BUM he would have been an easy way for calzaghe to become a 2 weight champion
why did roy jones loss to a guy with 9 loses?.......
if calzaghe fought johnson he would have been just a bum yeah another Tocker Pudwill but with 9 loses
calzaghe wouldn't fight ottke in germany but he would fight mario veit there. they both wanted home court advantage so how can you claim just ottke ducked? calzaghe didn't want to get robbed and ottke didn't want to be a victim of an early stoppage like manfredo. but no you are unreasonable and only see things through joe calzaghe tinted glasses.
calzaghe fought in germany REMEMBER THAT
YOU CANT MAKE A FIGHTER FIGHT
joe calzaghe would have beaten sven ottke....AND YOU NO THAT
yes he did. he also ducked glen johnson numberous times. even if he fought those guys he probably would have cheated to win so maybe it's best he didn't fight them.
Antwun Echols 16 loses
glen johnson 14 loses
if calzaghe was dominating his divison how do things like this happen?
2 guys both get 21 title defenses at the same exact time in the same exact division and never fight?
1999 1. Sven Ottke 2. Joe Calzaghe
2000 1. Sven Ottke 2. Joe Calzaghe
2001 1. Sven Ottke 2. Joe Calzaghe
2002 1. Joe Calzaghe 2. Sven Ottke
2003 1. Joe Calzaghe 2. Sven Ottke
and we all remember the glen johnson debacle
http://i53.tinypic.com/731095.png
Sven Ottke duck calzaghe you cant make a fighter fight mayweather will tell you that
kelly pavlik?chad dawson?
kelly pavlik was a middleweight that got beat by a old man that's why the fight never happened
chad who?.........i think that is the guy that got beat by jean,and jean got beat by carl froch and froch got beat by? _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
joe calzaghe beat?_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
so chad and pavlik got beat by guys calzaghe? _ _ _ _
fill in the blanks:loser:
I guess you have to re-assure yourself of what you believe. A career is not judged when its over simply by the names that are beaten. Not fighting fighters in their primes has everything to do with it
name the so called prime fighters joe calzaghe did not fight?.........
At 160 the only one worth mentioning is a younger Hopkins. At 175 to name a few you had a prime Jones, Montel Griffin, Michaczewski, Tarver, Erdei, Virgil Hill, Henry Maske.
Unfortunately the most recognizable names at 168 were going up or not fighting any more when Joe started his move. Benn was done, Steve Collins didn't stick around long enough, McCallum had moved up but was at the end of his career, McCleallan was tragic.
I would like to see how Joe would had fared against these guys but the timing wasn't there and his division wasn't loaded as it used to be. He fougt the available competition but wasn't nearly as good.
His comming out party to the world was agaisnt Kessler, he adjusted like a master in that fight and took it over. Unfortunately his best match-ups and fights came at the end of his career and makes you wonder why he didn't match himself up against the top names earlier cause he had the stuff to beat anyone of them in their prime
At 175 to name a few you had a prime Jones, Montel Griffin, Michaczewski, Tarver, Erdei, Virgil Hill, Henry Maske
why didnt roy jones fight Henry Maske?...
why didnt roy jones fight Michaczewski?....
why didnt roy jones fight Erdei?....
Montel Griffin and Virgil Hill got beat by Michaczewski and Tarver is the 35 year old man who knockout jones
all the guys you name is roy jones,s business/unfinished business
joe calzaghe was the best at 168 he beat the best at 160 and the so called best at 175
Sergio Martinez is 36 with 2 championship fights why is he getting so much hype?
Antonio Margarito knocked him out in 7 rounds
Paul Williams is a welterweight that got outboxed by Carlos-who nose
Kelly Pavlik was another over hyped hbo fighter that got shutout by a 44 year old man
Serhiy who?..... had 1 fight in 4 years
what has Martinez done to be in the top 3 p4p?.......
american's should stop watching HBO they are feeding you garbage watch showtime
......I don't care about politics race, region, nationality when it comes to boxing
it's as simple as this
Martinez has been defeating better opposition than most top P4Ps ..
he deserves his spot
i dont care where they put him p4p.
In 5 years time nobody is going to know who the fu_k he was anyway.
Maravilla who the fu_K is that?.....
jesus:pat:
everyone knows Martinez was green when he lost to Margarito
and his last 4 wins have been more impressive than Pacquiaos (i'm adding the first williams fight)
and pacquiao is the #1 p4p
14 years a pro and 2 championship fights
p4p is all about achievements what has martinez achieved?....
There's no fighters in america who you got to hype on about so you hype up llegitimate son's of America AKA immigrant's manny pacquiao and Sergio Martinez ....that is so sad
Get the fucck outta' here with that shiit.
Pudwell was never the best from the USA at the time or any time.
If pudwell was not the best usa had to offer who was?......Byron Mitchell?.......
they both lasted 2 round:crackhead
well, I mean jones only had a handful of fights there and Ottke fought there forever. Beating James Toney was certainly better than anyone Ottke beat, that's for sure.
Y'all Must've Forgot sven ottke beat antonio tarver
hopkins and armstrong lost their first pro fights and they fought into their 40s. if they were undefeated they would have retired long ago to protect their flimsy undefeated records. monzon lost 3 fights early on in his career but when he became champ he challenged himself. all 14 title defenses were against top 5 guys besides napoles who was the number 1 welterweight. if he was undefeated he would have fought a bunch of tocker pudwills.
tocker pudwills was a ok fighter best from the usa at that time fought calzaghe and ottke
