:lol1: @ the idea of dawson going down to 168 in search of his defining fight .. wait for it, waiiiiiiiiiiiiit for it .. DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN .. mikkel kessler.
ginger, please :lol1:
Gonna go with Rios here, Alvarado couldn't handle Prescott's jab and Rios has an equally as good of a jab, if not better
rios categorically does not have as good a jab as prescott, or even close. more to the point, they don't use their jabs vaguely similarly.
what's the purse split on this one?
i'd bet you that dawson could accept the lesser share here and still make more than he would've made fighting kessler back then. how is dawson-kessler @168 a huge money fight for dawson even before the super six?
and, as imdazed points out, dawson had no reason to make concessions to kessler, who was only assumed to be the best at 168 by default after calzaghe's exit from the game. it's not as if kessler was some p4p guy with whom a superfight (or even a pseudo-superfight such as dawson-ward) could be made.
I thought this fight was at 170 or something.
Chad should have negotiated that and for Andre's belt still be up for grabs. Given that's happened before and he's going most of the way down.
you are one slowwww dude.
nobody has ever fought for a title over the weight limit. this is not permissable. it doesn't happen.
at catchweights under the limit, titles have been staked.
if ward and chad were to fight at 170, the only title eligible to be staked would be chad's.
respect them. from the small bits i've watched there are some very courageous girls involved.
but my complaint is, women weren't meant to show their fortitude in this particular way. mens' bodies weren't really built for the kind of sustained abuse boxing imparts, much less the naturally more delicate frame of a woman. watching women beating each other up just feels wrong.
so, i don't follow it.
"If you truly want to understand someone, don`t listen to what he says. See what he actually does. Because what a person does is truly what he is, not what he says."
I'll believe Mr boat buyer fightin SSM and/or Cotto when I ****in see it. :boxing:
^^^^^ that "mr boat buyer" nonsense got wearisome and played-out real quick.
nice to see some of the biggest douchebags from that boxingscene era being aired out here.
Making the point that just because there is no video doesn't mean it didnt happen
if you had a sense of boxing history you would have mentioned Ali-Johannson not Hitler, lol
ive seen the fight 100 times man.it was a close fight
no it wasn't. chavez won 3 rounds at best if you know how to score. don't think you've watched the fight once let alone 100 times, but if you did ever see it you def weren't paying attention.
He got one shot on Morales when Morales got all wild (which surprised me) after hurting Garcia... Come on bro, come at me with some unbias sh1t. We all know Garcia did not pull any trigger considering who he was fighting and the condition he was in.
erik's pops knew the (awful) scorecards, told his son they were trailing in the fight and that they needed the ko .. erik got so wild because he was pushing for the stoppage
odd nomination, but it's a personal choice and i could say something completely different on another day -
the last five rounds of Mayweather-Hernandez, after shattering his left hand on Hernandez' head, in which he laid on an impressive exhibition of survivalist skill from the southpaw stance, parrying, triple-jabbing, hooking and uppercutting with the right glove and sometimes throwing the smashed left to the body or throwing left hand power punches without turning them over .. and still winning most of the rounds after the 6th
i know what you're saying.
it just sucks, man. every day was an uphill struggle for this guy in his mind. saddest thing besides the loss for his family is that he had so much still to give to the sport, to kids coming up.
this one actually hurts deeply for me. i've got no shame in saying i shed a few tears for johnny upon waking up and hearing about this 24 hours or so ago.
petty as hell. they should exercise some discretion and common sense and leave the man be.
if he did anything illegal, he's paid for it with his mobility. nobody else was hurt. if anything, it sounds to me like he maneuvered his bike in such a way that would stop others from being hurt.
I'm very shocked about Williams. It's kind of left me depressed TBH.
you and me both, buddy.
it's just very saddening if you're a fan of the sport. and on top of tapia, too. it's weird, but it kinda knocks something out of you.
he brought it in every fight and provided us with some great ones.
and he's one of boxing's true nice guys.
this news upset me a lot, especially coming on the back of tapia. it's nice to read through some of these threads and know that i'm among people who care the same way i care and feel the same way i feel about these guys who i never knew but whose spirit and bravery touched my life in deep ways.
lol, do you even follow boxing?
Haye is a CRUISERWEIGHT who went the distance with Wlad. FACT
CHRIS BYRD WAS/IS A HEAVYWEIGHT dummy lol
Also, I won't claim Haye was the best CRUISERWEIGHT ever, but he went 12 with hypejob WLAD, yet giving up at least 30/40lbs in weight.
It makes one think, how many Cruiserweights could've done the same?
You think Virgil Hill could've beaten someone like Lewis? NO.
Watch some more DVD's, age a few years, then come back with an opinion lad.
lol, more to the point, do you? you realize that byrd was never a large heavy by modern standards, right? you realize that the statement i just made is given credence by the fact that his last two bouts were fought at cruiser and below, right? haye hasn't been a cruiser for over 4 years. and the last time he 200lbs, he was tight as hell at the weight. he couldn't make cruiser now if he tried.
you mentioned skills, and chris byrd's SKILLS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> haye's. it's not even close.
you really think that running from wlad for 12 rounds and throwing a minimal amount of punches is a huge achievement, purely because he was moving up in weight? let's not forget that david haye was the man who announced himself at heavyweight with the statement "i'm bigger than holyfield."
cast your mind back to holy taking on bowe, a huge heavyweight with great range and a much more rounded game than wlad. you really think holyfield wouldn't have done a great deal better against wladimir than hypejob haye? :lol1:
there are plenty of guys in history moving up from LHW or CW who would've put up a better show than the useless sh1tbag whose jock you're riding. let's not forget that haye was supposed to put wlad into a slobbering coma according to you. :lol1:
as for virgil hill, is that really the best reference point you could come up with? go learn some boxing history, stop foolishly trying to guess the age of anonymous internet people, then come back with an opinion lad. :slap:
You do know Byrd started his career and got a silver in the olmypics as a middleweight / super middleweight right ?
and therein lies the hilarity. that clown is telling posters to get a clue while he cavalierly states that byrd is a more natural heavyweight than haye. :stupid:
Let's break it down...
Floyd fought true southpaws in only 16% of his fights. That's NOT A LOT.
He has faced 7 southpaws in his entire career
the first 3 don't count because, they were canon fodder early in Floyds career...
The latter 4?
Chop chop Corley - gave Floyd trouble
Sharmba Mitchell - way past his prime when facing Floyd
Zab Judah - gave Floyd trouble
Victor Ortiz - gave Floyd trouble
Bottomline - Floyd may have won against the few southpaws he's faced, but Floyd has trouble with southpaws.
floyd came out to bang with corley, big difference to what he'd do with pacquiao.
judah barely gave floyd 'trouble', that claim is hugely overstated. they had a competitive first 3 or 4 rounds, one way traffic after that.
ortiz didn't give floyd trouble. mayweather won every round and knocked him out within 4.
i mean, even if you haven't seen langford's considerable talent and skills in evidence, consider this.
when sam registered his win over tiger flowers, he was pushing forty, had been in the game two decades already and was practically blind. way past what people call "shot" on here. while tiger flowers would go on to become the great tiger flowers.
sometimes you don't have to have seen it to know the size of the accomplishment.
but the idiots that think Wlad is a KO 'artist'' need to understand that the only time he fought anyone with skill was Haye, who is a different weight class, yet Haye went the distance, and at no point was in real trouble
chris byrd >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> david haye and it's not close. there goes your crap post.
talk about limited. outside of wlad, haye's fought only old washed-up dudes and only survived his brush with wladimir because he ran and threw a pitiful number of punches per round. claimed he was going to pressure, but couldn't do it because his one dimensional ass doesn't know how to pressure. :gives:
so Victor Ortiz is now a right-handed?
what i guess you don't realize is that ortiz is not a natural lefty, he's a converted orthodox guy. his power hand is his right hand, his best punch is a right hook, not a left cross (although he did tag mayweather with a couple).
however, i don't think pacquiao would have success with mayweather, regardless of any susceptibility floyd may have to southpaws. range would be a huge issue for manny in this matchup.
See the pattern here.
Floyd's defense does not work as well against the southpaw stance. Second rate fighters land big shot against Floyd and cause him trouble.
Floyd has to adapt he come out fighting and is more aggressive.
Pacquiao is another class or two above these fighters and Floyd plan of taking the fight to the southpaw fighter, is a no go for Floyd unless he wants to get KTFO.
Can't believe people are having problems accepting that Floyd has problems with southpaw fighters.
I wonder when he will step up to fight an A class southpaw, in Martinez or an A+ class southpaw in Pacquiao.
I don't think he ever will because when the B class and C+ class give him trouble, A class and A+ class will destroy him
honestly, i don't even have the desire to respond to anything you say extensively, because i've seen you and you're a sh1t poster. no offence.
