I think Kelly gets out to a good start, but the pressure will tell, and he'll get stopped down the stretch.
I've bet on Teo to beat Shakur. I think he pulls out a Loma type performance
Also to further illustrate...after Dawson...Ward fought 4 times in 4 years...vs Edwin Rodriguez...Smith...Barrera and Brand...he was dealing with various injuries and inactivity...all of that was to prepare for a guy at a higher weight, who is the biggest puncher and probable best boxer you've ever faced.
My point was that it is ironic that he is, rightfully imo, questioning whether Yarde has taken the necessary steps to get ready for Kov...when Andre seemingly didn't take the right steps himself and it very possibly cost him those first 6 rounds and with that possibly cost him a legit victory.
Ward did just fine in the first 6 rounds. Won 3 of them.
Wait til yarde tastes kovalevs Jab, that will be an "oh śhíť" moment.
Boxers wear cups. You don't need to punch directly on the balls to impact them. The shots were low. Watch the replay. He wasn't done or Ward wouldn't have resorted to low blows.
Like I said, they weren't blatantly low. In all the replays and slow mos I've seen, in every "low blow" part of ward's glove is in contact with kovalevs belt line. So not egregiously low. A couple of borderline ones, I'll concede.
I think the right hand took something from kovalev and he was more or less done. Ward was on top
Hey just give him the 1st 2nd and 6th while you're at it...I could see 12-0 for Dre lol.
But yeah seriously...no offense man but I can't really take anything you say seriously on boxing if that is your take...thanks for putting it out there though and I wish ya lots of luck, sincerely.
No offence taken. I'm here to bust the kovalev kicked wards asś myth.
Ward won 3 of the first 6. I've watched the fight at least 10 times.
Thanks for your opinion
You're the guy aren't you? You're the guy I was debating a few months back on this very subject. I had a feeling it was you. Youre "i cant take you seriously" was the giveaway.Boxing 1012. Where have you been man??
Lol at Ward winning 3 of the first 6 rounds...that's funny dude, good one...maybe in the whole fight I could see him getting 3.
Ward had a similar oh sh.it moment in round 1 so I am sure Yarde will feel that power as well...in his defense he has been fighting at this weight for his whole career so he is at least used to being in with 175 pounders...but yeah none that likely hit near as hard as Kov...then again Ward wasn't properly prepared for that jab/power either so I appreciate you pointing that out...kind of proves my point ;)
Yeah the jab jolted ward in the first and he had a torrid second, but kovalevs power didn't trouble him the rest of the fight.
Ward took the 3rd 4th and 5th.
I've already had this debate with another guy in here. There's a myth that kovalev dominated the first 6 rounds. It's just not true
I'm glad I made an impression on you...but I can't say I remember you...nor do I really have much interest in talking boxing with ya...no offense though sincerely.
I've been in discussions before with people about Ward etc...but I don't think I've ever seen someone actually try and say he won that fight...let alone 3 of the first 6 rounds!! lol that's wild man...just fantasy stuff imo.
Some were definitely low...Kov could have handled it better but in a more neutral setting Ward is almost certainly penalized and possibly DQed...he got warned in the 2nd round I believe? And at least a few strayed low after that.
And then the last 2 or so finishing shots were clearly low...but Ward was doing some good work to the body in fight 2...was definitely better in fight 2 but was still getting outboxed most of those first 7 rounds.
Did u lose your login details??
As per our previous debate, I think I said the 3rd 4th 5th and 6th rounds were all very close. Take out Kovalevs stiff jab and the 1st round is close too. So it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that ward took 3 of those rounds, no??
Ward cheated to beat Kovalev. That's just a fact. The first knockout by repeated ball punching.
Yarde has no chance to beat Kovalev. He has fought nobodies. He should be stepped up properly with matches against lesser fighters
Unless his balls were up at his belt line!!! A couple of shots were borderline but kovalev was done. That right hand to the chin took it outta him. He wanted out
Hey he almost won the 2nd round too...if not for the KD and getting outlanded by 30 punches
And just like our last debate you use sarcasm when you're "on the ropes" so to speak.
You also said ward "got his aśś kicked" for the first 6 rounds.
Apart from rd 2 he did not get his asś kicked
:haha::haha:
Outlanding in first fight? Kovalev was outboxing and outlanding Ward in practically every round. Anything other than 9-3 or 8-4 for Kovalev in their first fight is simply fanboy judging.
Clean blows in the second? Seriously?
Are you playing mental gymnastics to this level?
Tell me, which rounds did kovalev out land ward???
Ward outlanded kov in the 3rd 5th 7th 8th 9th and 11th rounds.
Well if that is your mission on here then go for it my friend...I'mj just here to talk boxing in general...and as for that fight I guess we can all see what we want to see sometimes I suppose ;)
I think it was a very close fight. Cudda gone either way but by no means a robbery, in my opinion
Yes it was a close fight. I usually record fights but my recorder acting up....I was waiting to see if they were going to replay it but they didn't....where did you see it?
Full fight is on YouTube
What were you watching? Manny was losing the 1st round till the knock down saved him & from the 4th round up it was all Keith.
Shudda gone to specsavers!!!
You better go look at the fight again. Manny was getting hit with right hands & left hooks. Oh but I get it, no one said it in the commentary & you don't pay attention for 3 min of each round.
How do you know I don't pay attention for 3 mins? I watch a fight closely and judge a fight as fair as I can.
What was Keith getting hit with? Feathers? Knocked him down in the first, nearly folded him with a body shot, and had his nose leaking.
Even Keith thought he needed a knockdown.
You're wrong on this fight pal
It was a close fight. I know everyone is happy for Pac, but let's not get goofy here. I didn't have Keith winning but I wouldn't cry robbery if someone else did by a narrow margin. Manny let a lot of those rounds get real close and let some of them go entirely.
There's no way Thurman won more than 5 rounds. My goof-ometer is turned way down.
But you want ignore the punches that rocked Manny's head back multiple times & you also want to ignore Keith backing Manny up with punches landing. You dudes see 1 side only. It was a good tough fight that I thought Keith edged out or a draw cuz of the knock down.
I've re-watched it an I didn't give Thurman enough credit in my earlier posts.
Rd 1 Pac 10-8
Rd 2 Pac 10-9 (close, but I thought he nicked it in the last 15 seconds)
Rd 3 Pac 10-9 (can't see how Thurman won it)
Rd 4 Pac 10-9
Rd 5 Pac 10-9 (wobbled Thurman at the end of round, and bloodied his nose)
Rd 6 Thurman 10-9 ( Keith's 1st rd)
Rd 7 Thurman 10-9
Rd 8 Thurman 10-9 ( nicked it in last 10 seconds)
Rd 9 Thurman 10-9
Rd 10 pacquiao 10-9 (body shot)
Rd 11 Thurman 10-9 (cleaner more effective punches
Rd 12 Thurman 10-9 (close round, had to watch it a few times but edged it for Thurman)
Pacquiao 114 -113 Thurman
Greb is arguably the greatest of all time. I've got the Greb book 'Live Fast Die Young - The life and times of Harry Greb'. Only flicked through it reading bits and bobs. Need to get down to reading it all.
Have it myself. He's like the bogeyman. Did he even exist?
Well apparently Whitey made up the legend of Harry Greb so that they had a white guy to compete for the title as GOAT with Robinson, Armstrong and Langford.
They all check under their beds at night for harry greb
HOF is the definition of All Time great, it's not Floyd's fault his era didn't have any other top 10 all time fighters. Heck, maybe if Pacquaio would have beaten Floyd he'd have been top 5 All Time. Once again, people hold Floyd to a different standard than any other fighter.
Compare the SRL vs Hagler fight vs the Floyd vs Oscar fight.
Hagler was 33, Oscar was 34. Floyd moved up in weight to fight Oscar, SRL moved up in weight to fight Hagler.
SRL made all kinds of ridiculous demands and got them, massive 12 oz gloves, massive 22X22 ring, 12 rounds instead of the standard at the time 15 rounds. Leonard had several non head gear real matches behind closed doors. The fight ended in a controversial split decision that many think Hagler won to this day. Leonard reportedly said that to Hagler that Hagler had won that fight.
There was no controversy in the Mayweather fight. MAyweather gave Oscar every advantage, his gloves, his ring, everything.
Why is SRL's win over Hagler better than Floyd's win over Oscar? The answer is that it's not.
First of all, ray leonard came out of a three year retirement and went straight for the middleweight champ.
Secondly, even after a 3 year hiatus, srl was still the draw so hagler had to acquiesce to his demands.
Floyd may act like he "gave" Oscar every advantage when in reality he had to give in to Oscars demands because Oscar was the draw.
Oscar's previous fight before fighting Floyd was mayorga.
Haglers previous fight was mugabi.
No comparison
It's def below the belt, but not between the legs. So low blow yes, but not a LOW blow. Hit him on the upper thigh, still low and ref did the right thing to separate. Mcgregor fans can eat a fat one.
hit him on the upper left thigh but floyd acted like he was hit with a crossbow
Im not on a high horse its you on a pony.
You don't know what youre talking about that's obvious to me.
I know I'd rather get hit in the thigh than the balls
