Still no clarity on exactly what was Smith's injury?!
That fight isn't happening, never was, Smith never wanted it.
And yet he still has a belt, so I blame the WBO and whoever is sancioning his belt, he was suppossed to show proof of the injury within 10 days, still nobody knows wtf happened. There's no respect for the sport, why go ahead with something you know ain't happening?
there's an old clip of Freddie roach teaching the hook
his philosophy on hooking technique was if it misses the elbow should land. hooking with this intention generates proper power
not everyone appreciates seeing dirty boxing, but it's apart of the game and a valuable skill to have in the toolbox
clean fighters should still learn dirty boxing to prevent it
the ref can't save you
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmAFFvdGc_o
So you agreed they should use that "technique" even at the prospect of being disqualified, and what's worse, causing injury to a fellow boxer who is not using dirty tactics against you. Is that it?
if you elbow best follow it up quickly with a fast punch. Fat Dave did and his elbow was overlooked
ref job is to ensure a good fight
he doesn't want to disrupt good action
From the same school.

Damn shame Morrell’s scheduled fight fell through. We don’t see these guys often enough.
You know who should be ashamed, Smith, undisclosed injury where he needed to produce a medical report within 10 days, if you ask me the length should have been 72 hours or belt vacate, still no plausible reason and he is holding the belt.
Cuban School Of Boxing Education served Cuban Dave well
he moved countered and made Fat Dave work
Fat Dave toughest fight to date
He didn't move enough and didn't threw enough, Hopefully he learned from that fight.
I read this yesterday and thought, Of course Morrell would say that. David seemed so sure. Now I see why.
And he's the one that make Benitez feels his power, now we know he has a chin, can punch and have a heart. Actually with more experience he could have giving him a tougher fight, after all he visibly hurt him on three separates occasions.
nobody wants to see benvidez fight plodding slow footed handed old zurdo..benvidez should of fought optai..who he seems to want no part of..mbilli is the next best guy at 168 so canelo gets credit
Nope, Iglesias is the best at 168, the same Iglesias that canelo, munguia and Sheeraz declined to fight.
If this opponent comes to fight instead of move and jab like Scull and Crawford then vintage Canelo will be back.
Vintage? Like the one that fought Floyd or thr oe that fought Bivol. What do you mean vintage? he was never elite, he was good but never elite, he made his career out of fighting old dogs with names, undersize fighters and mediocre boxers. Please if you are going to reply to this, please name one elite fighter in his prime he beat.
It’s because many Cubans have that boring amateur style I think.
That narrative doesn't work anymore, for every "boring" Cuban I'll name 5 or 7 others. You got Rigondeaux and you have to admit, he has some really good fights nd Lara that has been involved in two fights of the year. so Yoenli, tellez, Herrera, Gonzalez, Iglesias, Cruz, Ramirez, Morrel jr, Armando Martinez, Machado, Pero's, dayan, Gamboa, Ugas, Casamayor. Am I wrong? I believe is because they're really good fighters.
Never heard of this British kid. Looks like a COMPLETE mismatch. I know Morrell needed an opponent after Smith ducked him, but couldn't they have given him someone else? This guy isn't even scraping the Top 50 on Boxrec. Am I underestimating this dude? If not, couldn't they have lined him up with someone in the top twenty? Give Kataev a rematch.
Didn't Kataev got popped for roids? You should know how hard is for a Cuban to find any good fight. Look Iglesias, and wait until is Feliciano's turn. O well, a least his fighting
I'll take it a far step further and say.....lets just give him all of the vacant belts and go from there at this point. This would solve the mess 160lbs is in now.
I think almost every division is a mess, 4 organization with their own rankings, and now Zuffa.
Don't forget Yoenli Hernandez who is with the PBC, how are you rating him with those guys.
I'd give him the edge if he ever fights anyone of the three.
He certainly didn't get beat up, I suggest you re watch. Morrell's best round was in round 10, the final round where he must've been told he needed a KO to win, he had Khateav badly hurt. Other than that he lost the first 5 rounds including a knockdown and lost at least another 2 rounds from 6 to 10. Every time Khatev went to the body he seemed to hurt Morrell and he started to throw the right immediately after. The fight was definitely a robbery but given the circumstances Morrell Jr gave a good account of himself.
i ask you for numerous times where DMJ was hurt, the first 4 rounds were all contested by both men. Your opinion that he lost all the first 5 rounds of them is based on an impartial view, he was winning the 5th round until he got caught. After the knockdown, he went after iman and gave him hell, Khateav was on shaky legs in the 9th, and by the 10th he was spent, a guy full of roids.
This is true. He played the spoiler. Osleys had difficulty pinning him down but accumulative damage caused his corner to call it.
I didn't watch the fight. I went for what you posted, and it seems that the guy didn't want any kind of engagement. At least he forced the stoppage; I think he deserves credit for this.
Silyagin's corner stops the fight.
Kind of a bore, really. The Russian was content to play spoiler all night.
Well, we have a new Champ and you need two to tango.
Yeah this is it because it's a bit strange for a fighter to lose despite scoring a knockdown and hurting the opponent in numerous rounds.
Would you mind pointing those numerous rounds when he was visible hurt? Because after the knockdown, the Russian got beat up, even though he was loaded with steroids. I still don't know why Morrell Jr people agree to this fights and which alphabet soup sanctioned
needs better handlers and to move westwards
Osleys is the best 168 but won't have a breakout moment beating up random slavs
Hamzah
Diego
Lester
Christian
Kevin
Christian being his hardest match up
You're right, the thing is out of the group you have mentioned, Sheraz already say no, Mbilli is in the same team, but I know he refused twice a fight with Morrell jr, Munguia and Canelo didn't want to face him, so is more up to the others to come and get it, if and once he wins the belt, by the way they tried to get Lester in the ring and didn' get him.
Would you mind pointing those numerous rounds when he was visible hurt? Because after the knockdown, the Russian got beat up, even though he was loaded with steroids. I still don't know why Morrell Jr people agree to this fights and which alphabet soup sanctioned
Lmfao look at you just talking irrelevant nonsense. Im right just admit it and stop crying.
Can't even stay on topic and defend bumdoras straight 3 last fights
I'm not defending Fundora, you got this whole argument wrong, I'm still on topic and you haven't give me a straight answer. I'm questioning your statement about Timmy been shot, that's the topic, Fundora is in the topic as a footnote just like the Russian. But you know that feeling and facts are two different things. Still waiting.
