He beat a middlewight Andrade at 168.
He beat the worst version of Gvozdyk ever.
He beat the fatest version of Zurdo ever.
And fanns are like...ohhh..p4p king lol..
Don't get me wrong. He is a very good boxer. Amazing handspeed. But his footwork still basic.
PRINCEKOOL
'Derek Chisora was at his absolute peak during those years, and he was beaten easily by David Haye, again while being outweighed by 37 pounds'.
u are talking about 2012
chisora had lost 3 or his last 4 fights before fighting david haye :p
he lost 4 out of 5 fights around that time and only beat a guy with 43 loses and he beat him on points
david haye totally failed in his big fight v wlad kilt, it was a horrible performance
he beat ok decent guys at cruiser and was good in his prime
he came nowhere near making the top in the heavy division, this is a fact
Derek Chisora has lost 13 fights, I don't think saying? That he has lost three fights in a row proves anything 'Derek Chisora was facing better opponents back then such as Vitali Kiltschko and pushing them over 12 rounds'.
Note: Chisora was at his absolute peak, he had never been decked 'or knockout before fighting David Haye'.
David Haye lost his fight vs. Wladimir Kiltschko 'again at his absolute peak. It is most likely Kiltschko's signature win during his entire heavyweight reign'.
It was a underwhelming fight, were Haye was not really beaten up 'he was just out pointed in most of the rounds. I personally think it was an achievement for him at that stage of his career to endure and last the distance vs. Wladimir Kiltschko. In reality it was not a bad loss'.
Again, David Benavidez may be a fighter who is 'hot right now, and this does distort certain folks perceptions of a fighter historically'.
To conclude: If you want to get carried away with his career, and abilities go ahead 'I have stated what I personally think about him as a fighter'.
And yes I do believe David Benavidez is in the latter part of his career 'if he was not? He would not all of the sudden be moving up through the weight classes. I wonder why all of sudden, he is not weight draining himself to be a big man on fight night?'.
I will tell you why? Because that lifestyle and those training methodologies have a negative accumulative effect on a fighters condition and longevity 'combine that with his already sub-optimal work ethic. There is a definitive potential that he is not going to maintain his form and performance levels as good as Canelo Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather Junior and Manny Pacquaio'.
So this is his absolute peak, and he still has not won 'a mega fight. I see a world level fighter, with a easy to understand style. I don't see a monster fighter' etc.
SUBZER0ED
There has been no step in competition since Gvozdyk/Morrell so that is where the bar must be set, based on these facts it is not possible to extrapolate someone being great. That said Gvozdyk/Morrell/Plant is an alright resume but none of them where elite fighters by the time any fight took place.
The thing I like about Benavidez is he isn't a one punch guy - he's puts on a accumulative beatdown until the opponent folds, similar to how GGG did and how Beterbiev does.
There is something really satisfying about watching a fighter being made to take steady punishment, round after round until the received damage is irreversible. opposite of Saul Santos who has one punch ko power but lacks the stamina to throw true volume
what made golovkin power special was it was a heavy handed clubbing thudding power that could still one shot ko anyways
usually only see slower big power one shot ko at heavy

So tall and long for his weight can use his fast spear jab to further provoke them forward

didn't need to fully develop ring cutting techniques
Great segment at the post fight with Buff Guy Yarde press conference where Fat Dave credits golovkin as his de facto mentor
all of the the rounds they did together helped shape Fat Dave into the fighter that he is today
how fitting for a pupil of golovkin to beef with Saul Santos

Yeah Benny was up at Big Bear sparring Golovkin at 15 & 16 years of age.
Apparently in one of the spars they both hurt each other with body shots, which is fairly plausible American West Coast endless Mexican fighters

Dave grew up in the gym sparring world class guys to learn his craft
all of that hard sparring since childhood are YEARS of wear & tear
party lifestyle in his early 20s c ocaine and booze. was still boozing and being hammered as recently as his mid to late 20s. These activities took years off of Oscar's boxing
Dave would sometimes balloon up in the past after fights
given his background incredibly impressive if Dave is still very good at 35

It interests me how different people use that word, "potential". For me, I think of it as the possibility to perform better- but in that case I don't think he will get any better in regards to combined skill and athleticism. I basically thin we are seeing the best version of him right now. The only potential he has is to have better opposition. But does that make him any greater?Dave grew up in the gym sparring world class guys to learn his craft

What's "great" about Benavidez is that he has great potential. There are some "great" bouts ahead of him if the promoters allow it: Bivol, Beterbiev, Opi. Imagine if he defeats all three? He'd be PFP #1. His emergence gives us boxing fans hope of some tremendous future bouts and we should all be happy that he's around.

Canelo Alvarez is a greater fighter than David Benavidez and has a better resume.
The reality is? David Benavidez is most likely in the latter part of his career. So this notion or narrative that he is the future of boxing, is nonsense in my opinion. He has already shown potential signs that he does not have the work ethic to have the longevity of Canelo Alvarez, Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather Junior, Manny Pacquiao'.
'And whether people like to acknowledge it or not. Canelo Alvarez is a miles greater fighter'.
This must be some domestic Mexican thing, where people pick between David Benavidez and Canelo Alvarez 'for various reasons'.
Note: Daggum David Benavidez is not all time great cruiserweight fighter, and it appears like he is also reluctant to challenge himself at Heavyweight 'so stop talking about him in the same arena as David Haye'.
David Haye beat Nikola Valuev while being outweighed by 7 stone 'and he knocked out a absolute peak version of Derek Chisora. While heavyweight fighters from this era, have been struggling vs. a miles outside of his peak Derek Chisora'.
Tyson Fury has fought Derek Chisora three times 'the first fight could have went ether way. The second fight Fury fought Chisora on the back foot. And once again in the third fight, he was reluctant to fight Chisora head on'.
Derek Chisora is stylistically one of the most easiest fights for Tyson Fury to win 'but in my opinion, he still was unable to score the most impressive win over Chisora'.
David Haye has the most impressive win over Derek Chisora 'he is the only heavyweight to fight Chisora head on and completely cancel out his momentum. Haye was the first heavyweight to deck and knockout Chisora, it would be another 6 years vs. Dillian Whyte II, that a similar feat was achieved'.
To conclude: But back onto the topic of David Benavidez 'If you like him as a fighter, then good for you 'but I believe that skill for skill, he is completely overrated'.
He has never been a undisputed Champion, and he has lost his World titles due to not being able to make the weight limit 'multiples times, which is a consequence using weight draining tactics for too long in his career'.

:lol1: Benavidez @ 29 years old "is most likely in the latter part of his career". So, what is Canelo @ 35, getting his second wind? Canelo, the "miles greater fighter". So, why won't he fight the "clearly inferior" Benavidez?
You do realize that Fury and Chisora are good friends? After Fury stopped Derek in 2014, they became pals. Hence, their third fight was little more than a big payday sparring session.
explain?
if anything Turki is interested in Fat Dave
he funded Fat Dave's fight with Buff Guy Yarde, a good but far from great opponent
I meant Turki is now at the point where he is proposing fantasy main event Riyad Season fights involving Benavidez like the possible Usyk one. win, lose or draw those type of fights are only going to boost his profile globally and financially to a higher degree than it already is
Based on what? Canelo's career has been hugely manufactured and as the cash cow he has been afforded many luxuries BUT EVEN THEN his career has been clouded by controversies in the way of judges gifts, failed PED tests and having the rankings manipulated to accommodate him/weak opponents. If what you're saying held any truth then Canelo would've fought & beat him by now.
Also what on earth are you talking about saying Benavidez is in the latter part of his career? He is only 29 years old and appears to be getting better and better with each fight. Also Turki is now showing interest in him so his star is set to shine brighter than it already has.explain?

Canelo Alvarez is a greater fighter than David Benavidez and has a better resume.

he was old and shot what are you even talking about? he lost almost every round to ibragimov right before figthing valuev. not to mention he dropped fights to byrd, toney, and donald 4-5 years earlier which proves he was no longer anywhere near top level. he beat a couple of bums before ibragimov...oh hes capable. no hes not. valuev was not capable of dealing with an old man who moved around and boxed because valuev was so big and slow yet you are using his size as a positive when its clearly a negative.
physiologically valuev was the slowest man on earth. you could time him with a calendar. the fact that an old holyfield boxed circles around him shows just how bad he was. haye doing the same thing old holyfield did, does not make it a great win. a guy weighing so much he can barely move around the ring is not impressive, its a detriment. maybe valuev was better in his prime but by that time he could barely move, just like nba players who are 7 feet tall, they break down and become statues. he was a statue and he was no great fighter in his prime anyway.
you keep talking about weight as if it can only be a positive thing. being out of shape like chisora has been his entire career is a negative thing. it affects speed, stamina, etc...if chisora was in good shape like haye he would almost certainly weigh less than haye.

Evander Holyfield is an all time great Heavyweight fighter 'and he was a capable fighter, ever at that stage of his career'.
Why is weight draining yourself, to be the big man on fight night 'and avoid fighting at your natural fighting weight impressive? That is what David Benavidez has done for 99.99% of his career. It was also what Terrence Crawford has done'.
Note: From a share physiological perspective, beating another professional boxer who outweighs you by 7 stone 'is an impressive feat. Nikola Valuev whether people like to acknowledge it or not was a World level Heavyweight fighter during his career'.
Overall Wladimir Kiltschko's heavyweight era vs. today's era was very close in terms of ability 'Derek Chisora was at his absolute peak during those years, and he was beaten easily by David Haye, again while being outweighed by 37 pounds'.
David Haye was the first heavyweight fighter, to fight Chisora head on and cancel out his momentum 'knocking him out inside the 5 rounds'.
Many years later during this heavyweight era. One of the premier Heavyweight Champions close to peak fought a version of Derek Chisora who was miles outside of his peak 'Fury fought Chisora three times, in their third fight it is commonly accept that Chisora was miles outside of his peak'.
Tyson Fury was still unable to legitimate knock out Derek Chisora, and refused to fight him head on 'that just shows you how great a fighter David Haye was at his peak'.
To conclude: David Benavidez is a World Level Fighter, and he is now fighting at his more natural fighting weight 'at Cruiserweight. But if he is really a monster fighter, in my opinion he should contend at Heavyweight. David Haye, Oleksandr Uysk, Evander Holyfield all of those past great Cruiserweight fighters did it'.
Otherwise the hype he is receiving and all of his performance are definitively being overrated 'because American needs a new boxing star, in the higher weight divisions' etc.

He is benefiting from eventually deciding to fight at his more natural fighting weight 'It would be a very unwise move for him to ever move back down to 175 pounds and below. Even for mega fights vs. Dmitry Bivol, Artur Beterbiev and Canelo Alvarez'.
Note: The only fighter out of those three fights, who I think in my opinion would be game to fight at cruiserweight is 'Canelo Alvarez, even still now at this stage of his career'
I agree? I don't think David Benavidez is the best pound for pound fighter in the world 'I would not even rate him as a top - 3 pound for pound fighter. But I will acknowledge that he is for sure an World level fighter'.
But I will say this? Since when has the Cruiserweight Divisions gained fighters so much credit? Because by my estimations both David Haye and Oleksandr Uysk were miles better cruiserweight fighters than David Benavidez. Maybe it is because he is an American fighter'.
I am sure David Haye could have started out his career weight draining himself, fighting in the lower weight divisions before 'fighting at cruiserweight and heavyweight. Maybe then people would have rated him as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the World'.
That is essentially what David Benavidez has done; he has only just now recently decided to fight at his more natural fighting weight 'he should have made this move many years ago'.
And although beating Zurdo Ramirez is a really solid win 'he has not cleared out the divisions. Ramirez was not the premier Champion, Jai Opetaia is highly regarded as the premier Cruiserweight Champion'.
To conclude: The fight vs. Jai Opetaia will be his first true elite level fight 'if David Benavidez can win that fight, then he will be considered a great pound for pound fighter but still not number 1' etc.
