You could implement divisions at each 1lb increment and you would still get fighters cutting too much weight. Yeah, but with larger gaps between each class the weight cutting is going to be more extreme. That's a matter of basic logic. Cause and effect. Or it's going to lead to smaller guys fighting in weight classes they normally wouldn't, resulting in more mismatches. It's a ridiculously terrible idea.

So now instead of a dead middleweight division and a weak welterweight division, you would have: Middleweight: Janibek, Adames, Lara, Vergil Ortiz, Fundora, Madrimov, Murtazaliev, Tsyzu, Bohachuk. Possibly Sheeraz, Munguia and the Charlos. Welterweight: Haney, Barrios, Rolly, R. Garcia, Benn, Catterall, Stanionis, Boots, Josh Kelly, Teofimo, Keyshawn, Dalton Smith, R. Hitchins, Matias (bolded are already at that weight) I think Boots would go to 160 anyway but whatever. How would this not be way better? All those extra names you can mix and match, all fighting for one championship belt meaning nobody can hide out while milking a bogus belt and avoiding other top competition. I don't know how any real boxing fan can see this and say it looks like a worse alternative to what we have now. Who gives a **** about Dana White? They threw Glanton into their cruiserweight rankings just to make their Zuffa title fight with Opetaia seem less fraudulent.

In case you hadn't noticed, fighters make savage weight cuts irrespective of how many divisions there are. Returning to fewer divisions will encourage fighters to come in hydrated at a more comfortable weight class, with the added benefit of having deeper divisions. Look at the 30 fighters currently ranked by TBRB between 160lbs and 175lbs and tell me how many elite fighters you see there. Look at the calibre of opposition Canelo faced during his reign at 168lbs (to illustrate a point, not 'hate' on Canelo). Again, this is absolute nonsense. You cannot possibly be arguing that eliminating 154 won't make guys cut harder to get to 147.

Yes there is. Even in the TBRB top ten there's often fewer than 5 elite names and that's due to dilution. You can't just make arbitrary declarations like that. You are not the sole decider of who is elite. There's a reason dudes move up one weight class and get completely wrecked all the time. Reducing the number of weight classes is just going to make more guys cut extreme amounts of weight and get themselves hurt. This isn't going to increase the competition level in the other divisions, it's just going to force talented fighters out of the sport altogether. This is absolutely moronic.

They're both the both problem, which is why there is so much dilution in each weight class. There's nothing wrong with the number of weight classes at all. The dilution is because there are a dozen worthless belts in each one, and Dana is just adding another one to half of them. Dana isn't even keeping super flyweight, which has been one of the best divisions for the last 20 years. It's nonsense.

Trash decision, the weight classes aren't the problem. The number of belts per division is the problem, and Zuffa is adding one more belt and not getting rid of any.

Doesn't matter who is training him if he won't pull the trigger on his punches. What made Wilder formidable was the fact that he was throwing with reckless abandon the whole fight trusting on his chin and his stamina to get him out of trouble, like in the first Ortiz fight. The last time we saw that Wilder was the third Fury fight. Since that point he has been hesitant to throw, which means other fighters can just walk him down. He's essentially a punching bag on two legs.

You’d be mistaken in your assumption. One champion per division. The best fights the best (unlike silly 5 boxing trinket champions and fights against nobodies 10 years into their career). Boxing had its heyday in the 90s. Yes ppv will trump UFC. However, those are individual boxers. Most of your boxers are dirt poor. Unlike all other professional sports. Boxing is dying because of corruption all around. The best don't fight the best in UFC anymore. They let Jon Jones duck anyone he doesn't feel like fighting. Pimblett got put into an interim world title fight for no other reason than that Dana likes him. Strickland gets way more opportunities than he deserves because his bigoted views mirror Dana's.

I promise you, no boxing fans anywhere like the sanctioning bodies. Nobody cares what happens to them. But Dana White will be bad for boxing and for boxers. Between this & what's going on with Haymon & PBC, we might finally be at a place we can get these promoters out of the sport & be able to finally have a united boxing league of some sort. I see the IBF has Glanton ranked #15, so Opetaia isn't in jeopardy of losing that belt simply for fighting him. That's probably why they picked him. The worst guy they can get away with fighting without being stripped.

A boxing promoter who lives in Puerto Rico and has a Puerto Rican as his most notable fighter attacking Puerto Rico really is about as dumb as it gets. There are almost 10 million Puerto Ricans in the US counting the island itself and those living on the mainland, and as far as demographics go they are far more likely to be boxing fans than most other groups.

Lopez was coming off four straight solid wins against Conlan, Gonzalez, Warrington, and Abe and he was heavily favored against Leo. After Leo beat Lopez he called out Espinoza directly, but Leo was forced to travel to Japan for a mandatory challenge against Tomoki Kameda in Kameda's hometown on a card promoted by Kameda's brother. After Leo beat Kameda he called out Espinoza again by name, but instead Espinoza set up a fight with Lopez before that fight fell through. So if Espinoza is so great and Lopez is so bad, why did Espinoza try to cherry pick Lopez after Leo already iced him? And who is Ramirez's best win? He's 14-3 and his only solid win was against Isaac Dogboe four years and one weight class up from when Dogboe held a belt. It's like you don't even watch boxing.
