I know James Braddock, Jake LaMotta, George Forman, Micky Ward, and Muhammad Ali all have films.
I know it sounds cliche but I was thinking Mike Tyson. His rough childhood, his wife stealing his money, biting Holyfield's ear, his prison sentence, and becoming World Champion. There is a lot of source material there to use.
I also thought Max Schmeling who was use for Nazi propaganda, I believe he had a friendship with Joe Louis, and he became world champion.
Bernard Hopkins and Arturo Gatti were other options
Arturo Gatti
Jack Johnson
Adrien Broner (as a warning to all young boxers)
Oscar De La Hoya
Sonny Liston
i watched this one https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1131747/ about liston.
from a literal nobody, not even a name, to world champion - matthew saad mohammad.
There's already a TV movie about Tyson (1995) starring Michael Jai White.
Relatively unknown flick.
I know this cause a guy I grew up with in da hood got a bit part playing Carl King (Don Kings son).
Good to know, I'll check it out.

Arturo Gatti. And the surprise ending should be that the authorities fi ally arrest his wife.
(Just sayin, if she's guilty)
She's not guilty, the only people who say she is are Gatti's friends that hired an investigator to come to that exact conclusion. The Brazilian authorities ruled it a suicide and so did the Canadian authorities who did their own autopsy and investigation after the fact. The wounds on the back of Gatti's head were actually from earlier in the night when he was caught beating the hell out of her in public and two men intervened with weapons, clubbing Gatti until he finally stopped beating her.
Gatti had been threatening suicide for years and attempted suicide at least once in 2006.
He was a brain-damaged, mentally ill drunk whose marriage was collapsing due to his own abusive behavior. That's why he killed himself. There's no mystery.
Isn't Jaimie Fox supposed to play Mike Tyson? Anyways, it should be anyone that had a great coming up story that is inspiring. Not just necessarily how well you did in the ring. There is only so much you can talk about ring achievements. The true story that can keep a film moving for 120+ minutes is one that takes all kinds of turns.
Usyk might have a nice story of how he came up in the Soviet times of UA. Though enough to watch for 120+? Same thing when you think of other popular fighters. Tyson Fury looks like he lives the life of a rockstar, but just how exciting was his life coming up when he had hair on his head?
Maybe Chocolatito? I don't know. I'm thinking of fighters that came up from the lowest of life to achieve greatness. That they had to travel to foreign land to make their mark against all odds. That as a child, they worked meager jobs to earn barely enough money to feed themselves or their family. To join boxing as a way to escape and although not heavy enough to fight, you cheat your weight to take a fight at a disadvantage just because you didn't care and needed the money. Oh wait, that's Pacquiao's story. Probably one of the most remarkable humans coming from nothing to everything. I know they already had movies/documovies on him, but that's the idea of what makes a great movie worth 2+ hours of your time.
I think the boxer movie, when based on a real person, it's quite dull. We know all about them and their fights anyway, so what else is there to say? The Rocky movies, espeically 1-3 were great, but mainly because they were about an identifiable, but fictional boxer. Maybe a movie about an iconic forum poster and their lives? Nash out - The Movie. Sounds good to Nash. Nash out - His Majesty
Cecilia Braekhus was adopted from a Colombian orphanage by Norwegian parents.
Boxing was illegal in Norway when she was growing up so she had to train in light contact point kickboxing instead. And she had to sneak out of her parents house just to do that as they initially didn't approve of her fighting at all.
Eventually she had to move to Germany to seek out a boxing gym and the first several gyms she tried straight up refused to train women.
She went on to become the undisputed welterweight champion and the unified super welterweight champion.
She made:
25 two-belt unified welterweight title defenses
23 three-belt unified welterweight title defenses
10 undisputed welterweight title defenses
8 undisputed+IBO welterweight title defenses
Also became the first ever Ring Women's Pound for Pound Champion.
Holly Holm dropped her belts the first time she was ordered to fight Braekhus and retired from boxing ducking a career-high payday the second time she was ordered to fight Braekhus.
Braekhus was 44 when she won the unified 154 titles in her retirement fight.
The sport of boxing was legalized in Norway just so she could finally fight at home.
