I agree with the TS. This was not the same Pacquiao that fought a more powerful, higher skilled Miguel Cotto. That Pacquiao would have destroyed and knocked out Bradley. The old Pacquiao would have never let off the gas, Pacquiao now let off the gas a considerable amount of times.
All of you are jumping WAY too far from "He wasn't completely dominated" to "He has a case for winning." No Bradley did not.
It's okay that it was a robbery because it was Pac though, these things just happen. None of you are saying that during all these other robberies happening lately. What I find really funny though is that these people hate Pacquiao so much that they're using the same excuses the Pacstans did when Marquez lost last November.
"You have to look at it round by round!"
"It's all about activity!"
It's the same excuses but different side.
These people are not honest. It's just like frickin' politics to them. Keep in mind that most people at press row had Manny winning and winning comfortably. These people were not being swayed by the biased HBO commentary.
JMM II - indecisive
DLH - coming off loss & weight drained
Hatton - coming off 1st loss & damaged after KO to Floyd
Cotto - coming off destruction by Margarito & drained
Clottey - coming off loss to Cotto and never been world class
Margarito - coming off KO loss and still banned at time of fight & drained
Mosley - coming off loss & looked terrible in next 2 fights
JMM - clear win for JMM despite Pacquiao having him come up to a weight he claims he could not make till this day. Here's some facts:
I'll give you JMM. I had JMM winning the close, competitive 2nd fight.
De La Hoya just won against the light punching Steve Forbes. De La Hoya also dictated the weight to Pacquiao at 147. Pacquiao was not at fault that he was drained. Also keep in mind that De La Hoya was the heavy favorite going into the fight.
Ricky Hatton came off a tough win against Juan Lazcano and easily beat Paulie Malignaggi before fighting Pacquiao at a weight he had never been beaten at.
Miguel Cotto had beaten Michael Jennings for the vacant WBO welterweight title and had "won" against Joshua Clottey before meeting Pacquiao.
Joshua Clottey had "lost" a fight against Miguel Cotto (which many believed he won including your idol Floyd Jr.), but was still considered a top 5 welterweight in the world before fighting Pacquiao.
Antonio Margarito had fought a tune-up fight with Roberto Garcia in Mexico. Margarito said himself that he had no weight issues for the Pacquiao fight.
Mosley came off a draw with Sergio Mora and he looked crap. I'll give you that one.
JMM fought another close fight and IMO felt that won the 3rd fight.
idiots who say pac dominated the fight are freaking fantards of pac and don't know how to score a fight......7-5 or a draw is what i saw.Jeff Mayweather had it 10-2 for Pacquiao, and he said he only gave Bradley an extra round because of activity. Floyd Mayweather Sr, one of Pacquiao's biggest haters, said that Pacquiao won comfortably. Randall Bailey's trainer, John David Jackson, who's not a fan of Pacquiao, had Pacquiao winning 9-3. These guys know boxing inside and out, are you saying they're idiots too?
I don't see any MMA guys in the top 100. :lol1:And yet the MMA stans keep on saying that boxing is dead. LOL
The Fertittas and Dana White are even worse than Bob Arum when it comes to paying fighters.
Shit, forgot about this. If only Top Rank and GBP would let bygones be bygones and combine both into one super PPV. Ortiz/Canelo and Martinez/Chavez with the winners fighting each other. That would be awesome but this is Top Rank and GBP we're talking about.
I feel sorry for them, they get no kind of credit. I know Roger only trained one fighter but I think he deserve training of the year award, same as Floyd winning fighter of the year if he fight at least 2 times a year.
After seeing the hall of frame ceremony I thought about the Mayweathers and wonder if Roger will make it there one day.
I didn't think Pac deserve the fighter of the decade, the award shoulldve went to FloydI agree with you but Floyd should have come back from "retirement" earlier. Pac was on a major roll when they gave out the award and Floyd was just coming back at the time.
$1.2 Million vs. Alexander
$1 million vs. Casamayor
$5 million vs. Pacquiao
$10 million if there's a 2nd fight with Pacquiao
Yup, he's making UFC type numbers.
Even in his prime Manny can't beat Floyd. It would be competitive but Manny will never beat him. Think about it, what's Manny kryptonite? Counter punchers. Who's the best counter puncher in the sport? Floyd. It's like math. Floyd will always beat Manny but he'll never knock him out.
As much hate Lampley and Merchant get on here, they always have the most memorable lines.
Without Lampley we would have any "BANG! BANG! BANG!" or this classic:
so cliff rold doesnt have two eyes? lol
floyd fought better opposition recenlty? pac already beat the crap out ofcotto more imprsively before and than floyd did and that was his most recent fight. same with shane and there aint no way ortiz was better than bradley at any point
pac beat bradley who was a top 8 p4p fighter in a domninat fashion but just did'nt get the decison.Pacquiao fought Cotto at a 145 catchweight where Miguel had to drain himself for (watch the 24/7 where some footage is seen of Miguel being upset that he cannot eat). Cotto also did not have an experienced trainer during the fight with Pacquiao.
Floyd fought Cotto at a comfortable weight of 154 and he had an experienced trainer. Cotto was also considered the number one junior middleweight in the world.
Pacquiao fought a Shane Mosley that just came off a boring draw with Sergio Mora and a lopsided unanimous decision lost against Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Floyd fought a Shane Mosley that just came off a great win over one of the most avoided fighters (at the time) of the sport in Antonio Margarito. Mosley was also ranked the number one welterweight in the world at that point and considered the number three pound-for-pound fighter in the world by most publications.
I'll give Pacquiao some major credit in taking a fight against a young, hungry, in his prime, undefeated junior welterweight champion in Timothy Bradley, Jr. IMO, Pacquiao won the fight comfortably, but he officially lost.
Just jab, jab, straight? He also has the right hook, left straight, right hook. He did it countless times against Bradley. It's the same combination that floored Cotto the first time in their fight. Yes, Pacquiao is very limited, but what he has makes it difficult for opponents to keep up with him in the early rounds.
Anyone with two eyes knows that Floyd should be at #1. Look at it objectively rather than subjectively.
Who has better skills? Floyd
Who has fought better opposition recently? Floyd
Who has fought opposition with less advantages? Floyd
Floyd has also fought healthier opposition than Manny while their mental and physical tangibles were also better (i.e. Mosley, Cotto, Ortiz).
Yes, Manny fought a great, young, prime opponent recently, but he also officially lost to him.
Here are the facts:
1. Pacquiao should have won.
2. Pacquiao lost.
3. Pacquiao took his loss like a man, with class and dignity. He even said that Tim would be a great champion. If only his stans would do the same thing.
4. It already happened and it cannot be changed.
I wish they would have originally broadcasted the fight this way.
No commentary, but full fight audio.I don't know why HBO doesn't use the SAP channel as a non-commentary channel.
For some reason, this reminds me of one of those Dave Chappelle "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong" sketches.
"Floyd's baby mama gets a text. Floyd then decided to KEEP IT REAL."
Bradley won the fight. Stop crying and get over it. :boxing:
AND NEW!!!Exactly.
Jeez Pacstans, even Pac himself got over it. YES, PAC HIMSELF got over it the moment he was announced the loser.
What happened, happened and you can't change it anymore.
Great. Here's another obstacle to throw into Mayweather/Pacquiao negotiations if they ever fight. One will ask for USADA only while another will ask for VADA.
Clean? LOL.
How can you be truly clean if Floyd is the one setting up the start and end dates for these tests? That's why Gabe Montoya has been riling on him about "Mayweather drug testing". And Pac's suspicious too for denying drug testing for his fights.
I applaud Floyd for bringing up testing, but he's doing it the half-assed way.
If you're the best, take the test......24/7/365.
I don't like hearing that Pac has been declining because of his Shane/Marquez fight. It's obvious that Pacquiao is no longer in his prime and has been in decline since the Mosley fight. The guy can't fight 3 minutes of every round for 12 rounds any more. He gets tired too fast. He also rarely uses his 4-5-6 combinations anymore. His darting in-out footwork is gone now and he's now flatfooted. The guy doesn't even use lateral movement anymore. Whether you like it or not, Pac is past prime.
Yes Tim, the commentary was super biased for Pacquiao but you have to understand one thing. Almost everyone on press row believed you lost and they didn't have any HBO commentary to swayed from.
Here's a sample of people who believed you lost:
Gabriel Montoya (Max Boxing) - 118-110
Steve Kim (Max Boxing) - 118-110
Dan Rafael (ESPN) - 119-109 / rewatch on mute: 118-110
Chris Mannix (Sports Illustrated) - 115-113
Jeff Mayweather (trainer) - 118-110
Michael Woods (ESPN) - 119-109 / rewatch on mute: 118-110
Max Kellerman (HBO/ESPN) - 118-110
Stephen A. Smith (ESPN) - 118-110
Kevin Iole (ESPN) - 117-111
Ben Thompson (Fight Hype) - 116-112
Eddie Mustafa Muhammad (trainer) - 118-110
Steve Bunce (Box Nation) - 117-111
And here are boxers/trainers who believed you lost:
Andre Ward
J'Leon Love
Randall Bailey
Nonito Donaire
Floyd Mayweather, Sr.
Jessie Vargas
Naazim Richardson
Joe Goosen
Kendall Holt
Oscar De La Hoya
Hasim Rahman
John David Jackson
James GeDale
Ricky Hatton
From what I know, the only people who agreed with the judges are the following:
Thomas Hauser (HBO consultant)
Brian Kenny (Top Rank commentator)
I've said it before he would have got more credit had he got the 'L' and its unfair on bradley he put his all into that fight.Exactly. His stock would have risen if the judges just weren't that incompetent. People love an underdog who fights their heart out despite losing (it's one of the reasons why Rocky is loved so much) But the reverse happened. Bradley's stock dropped and Manny's went even higher. People are blaming the wrong guy. Blame the judges, don't blame Bradley.
The only problem is that if Manny got the W, the haters would be saying that Manny didn't fight Bradley at his best because of the ankle sprain, broken foot, and blah blah blah blah blah HATERS. GOTTA. HATE.
