I thought Haye fought not far from the perfect tactical fight (even more credit given the hand injury). He knew he couldn't get involved in a bar brawl with Valuev and had to potshot from the outside.
Given his propensity to go bomb crazy he showed remarkable maturity curbing his natural instincts. The best fighters know how to win ugly. This was always going to be an ugly fight and so the tactics needed to be precision.
Yes, he could have thrown more leather and I genuinely believe he would have had Valuev in serious trouble if he did. But any kind of hand injury and all bets are off. You've just got to find a way to win - Danny Williams-style.

Mayweather’s father, Floyd Sr., said after the Cotto fight that he suspected Pacquiao was using performance-enhancing drugs to move up and win titles in so many weight classes. Ellerbe did not make that claim, but said that for a fight of such magnitude fans deserve to be confident neither fighter is cheating.

Travis Tygart, executive director of the USADA, said he had talked to representatives of both fighters about providing testing. Tygart said he welcomed the request as he would for any sport that does not have stringent Olympic-type testing.

I agree. Juan Diaz would be the perfect fight for Hatton right now. Juan is a known boxer who can't really hurt Ricky. If Hatton can go through Diaz, maybe then he would be ready for a top fighter.
