According to a report in the Daily Mail , a paper with sources inside the Hatton camp, former two division champion Ricky Hatton plans to call off a recently announced ring return and instead will announce his retirement next week. The report claims Hatton told close friends over the weekend he no longer has the motivation to return. Hatton has been inactive since last May's crushing two round knockout at the hands of Manny Pacquiao.
After Hatton announced a ring return a few weeks ago, close friends and other boxers were urging him to reconsider. Hatton's decision to reconsider his ring return was kept secret from some of his business partners, including Golden Boy Promotions who were planning to match him against Juan Manuel Marquez in the summer.
