On every boxing forum I go on Mayweather is still discussed daily. Sure he retired a month ago but who thought that when he retired he would just fade away and never be discussed again from one instant to another? I see people on other forums that still talk about Lennox Lewis like he is going to come out of retirement tommorow.

Floyd is pretty much famous for being famous. To the general public he's the black guy that beat Oscar in one of the biggest fights in history. Take ten steps in any direction outside of that and they really don't know much more about the guy aside from the fact that he's a boxer. Look at the torres fight he landed many flush punches on torres and didnt even wobble torres with any of the head shots. A 140 holt knocked torres out with one punch. Can I ask you what anything that's happened to a fighter after Miguel Cotto has fought them has to do with Cotto's skills? They obviously were game enough to hang with Cotto in the ring they night they fought. You ever think there careers crumble after Cotto because what he did to them? So there lack of skill isn't so much a diss to Cotto's ability but more a testament to the long term damage he does to people.

Boxers just like football players have evolved in their level of attainable skills as time has passed. Had they both existed in the same era of boxing I would give it to my boy Wilfredo but a 2007 Floyd would give him the business without a doubt.

Margarito can't cut the ring off like he'd need to. Cotto has great footwork and lateral movement. Tony is going to have to push Cotto into the corner and pound away if he wants to do serious damage otherwise Cotto will circle around him all night.
