The RING belt doesnt matter anymore. It lost its prestige quite a while back. The good thing about it, it isn't official so it can be obscure and they can't do anything about it.

The WBA is collecting 4 fees alone in the main event for Canelo's REG WBA and Floyd's WBA Super. they are going to charge both of them for each title.

They are just trinkets. Trophies. Recognition belts with no other sanctioning meaning other than that! Winner gets a belt to put in their trophy case. No big deal. These guys that have been fighting since they were like 6 or so, have tons of medals Belts trophies. All through the amateurs and all through the pros.
I get what your saying. Just like the WBC Diamond Belt was suppose to be a trophy for the mantle. The WBC said that for this belt the boxer didn't have to pay any sanctioning fees and it was a trophy belt.

If they didn't collect fees for those two bouts they would have told Martinez that he can't defend that belt because it's just a trophy belt.
