Rumors going around were that Showtime needed to make up a lot of money on Floyd's next fight in September due to the lackluster Maidana PPV. Floyd said he was willing to rematch Canelo (but not Maidana), or fight Danny Garcia but none of those fights would be a guaranteed success for Showtime Does Showtime throw money at Arum & Cotto to make Cotto-Mayweather II for the 160lb title? My guess is this is Floyd's next fight, I'd be surprised if Arum hasn't received a phonecall from Ellerbe, I'd say this fight does at least 1.5m buys Floyd will never work with Arum.Also Cotto does not have a multi-fight deal with Arum,Cotto is free to work with any promoter.The only way Cotto vs Mayweather 2 happens this year is if both of them can agree to a date this year.Mayweather wants to fight in September,September may be too early for Cotto,so maybe Floyd would be willing to push the fight back to October or November or Maybe even December.If not then we are not gonna see Floyd VS Cotto this year. I know this is a topic that people bring up a lot, and an old one at that, but I wanted to actually break it down. *sorry for the long post* Okay, Ive seen this argument used a lot around here, and of course people have always countered with "its only 40 million guaranteed, floyd gets the ppv revenue and everything else" which is obviously a good counter argument and the discussion should end there, but when Floyd fans say "well it was his highest pay day anyway, he should have taken it", I'll explain why that is just insanely crazy to even think pacqiuao should accept that offer. But here is the numbers first lets say pacman accepted this offer, and floyd gets the ppv revenue and and the gate revenue. Pacman would get his 40 million, and floyd would get the rest. How much is the rest? Lets break it down Pacman vs Bradley 2 generated 49 million dollars in ppv revunue for 750k buys. Now thats already a lot of money, but how many buys would floyd vs pacman do? A LOT more. If canelo vs floyd can do 2.2 million buys, floyd vs pacman could easily do 3 million buys, probably more. But lets be safe and say its 3 million. to put this into perspective of how much floyd makes off of ppv, according to Forbes it takes 1.5 million buys for Floyd to make 50 million all things considered. so we times it by 2, thats already a 100 million dollars right there. plus live gate revenue and any other ways of making money that pac wont be getting. That could be 10s of millions of dollars, probably 15 million dollars for floyd. What about Guaranteed purse? pacman clearly didn't mention that, but you better bet your ass floyd would get a guaranteed purse, and certainly higher than mannys, lets be real safe and low and say 50 million. Truly speaking how much is floyd making that night? with cuts and giving to promoters and such... Manny could make this money in two fights and be fine, this is supposed to be a super fight and manny is right expecting super money, not just a little higher than he gets now. it takes two fighters to make a super fight, and floyd acts like he is the only one that matters and that is simply wrong Before the Floyd vs Canelo fight people were estimating that Floyd vs Pac do 150-200 mil in PPV.Floyd fights under his promotional in which he spends a minimum of ten mil to finance the promotion of his own fights and pays Goldenboy a fee to handle the logistics,Pacquaio has a promoter who finances his fights,so that would mean Arum and Mayweather deserve a much bigger cut then Pacquiao,especially Floyd since he brings in a big fanbase and he would have been getting in the ring to fight Pac, plus he would have provided out his pockets money to help finance the fight and Pacquiao would not have spent a dime to finance a fight. Now if the fight was to generate 200 mil in PPV,PPV company gets half which would leave 100 mil for Arum and Floyd to split.And Floyd in a Esnews interview said he was gonna offer Pacquiao a portion of the PPV,he just wasn't gonna give Pacquiao half of the Revenue in which pacquiao was asking and didn't deserve. On the contrary. i think people need to realize only marquez's counter punching style is effective against pacquiao, because he is willing to take one to give one. where as floyd's style is strictly not to get hit. watch the mosley/pac fight. mosley is exclusively following a floyd mayweather like approach and waiting for pac to punch and counter with straight roghts. you notice manny finds the timing of mosley and feints a shot and lets mosley come in with a counter, but manny comes in at the same time with his own counter. hes very good at countering your counters. hes very underrated in that aspect. once manny finds mosleys rhythm, he starts getting to him, but this is when mosley goes into full retreat mode. the question with floyd is whether hes willing to take one while he gives one, if that makes sense. floyd wont be able to rest on the ropes with manny either. i basically see him running the whole time. im not a *******, and im not trolling. just an observation i made with how manny deals with counter punchers. m To me laying on the ropes and letting your opponent hit you to the body is a flaw. it shows you can do that good fighters, but not great fighters. it shows your legs are gone, and you have lapses where you rest up, but if an elite fihter is in there, you wont have that same luxury, thus having less stamina to fight in the middle of the ring. Floyd legs aint gone,Floyd was moving around alot in that Cotto fight,Floyd was laying on the ropes to lure Cotto in to try to KO him by catching him with big counters.Plus he wanted to give the crowd a more action pack fight.He could have beaten Cotto easier had he tied Cotto up in the corner but he chose not to. Floyd would not do that against Pacquiao and would beat him easy.

A Jab if thrown at an awkward angle will catch floyd a few times but then Floyd would adapt,Floyd dodged the vast majority of Cotto`s jab.Most of the Jabs Floyd got Caught with by Cotto came from an awkward angle plus Floyd is slower then usual.

At 154 Pacquiao would of still tapped that ass no problem. Pacquiao does`nt seem to believe that since he wont even fight him a t 150 let alone 154. I think Cotto beats Pac at 150 or above and i think Pacquiao is aware of this cause of his unwillingness to fight at 150.

It's a hard one. Duran's overall resume and achievements are pretty damn mind boggling. Starting at 118 (too many people still think he started at 135), and finishing up at 175, beating great champions from 1969 to 1998. Find another fighter in the history of the sport who has been able to beat champions over forty pounds apart across thirty years! It's simply incredible. Most fighters don't even have a career spanning close to thirty years and yet Duran was beating champions over more weight divisions and across more years than most have any type of career. A classic example: Pac has been fighting now for 15 years and beating champions for ten of those. Ten years after Duran beat his first great champion, he had moved up from 118 to 147, beat legendary HOF great Ray Leonard (which is certainly a much greater equivalent to beating Mayweather). Another ten years later he was winning the middleweight championship off Iran Barkley (himself a three division champion) and another ten years later was beating Jorge Castro, who had just come off title wins over Reggie Johnson, John David Jackson etc. Ray Leonard is just as amazing. Those four great wins of his....Prime Tommy Hearns, prime Wilfred Benitez, nearly prime Duran and nearly prime Hagler. Whatever you say about Hagler's prime though is canceled by the fact that Leonard had been out of boxing for four years and only had one fight in six years! Imagine if, instead of Mayweather coming back after one year to beat Marquez, he came back after six to beat Hopkins at middleweight (if Hopkins was still at 160 as champ. We're pretending after all)? Obviously the size difference is much greater but I'm talking in terms of career similarity. Long time undisputed MW champ without a loss in over a decade vs a multi-division champ coming up to 160 and off a very long layoff. That whole era was different though. Instead of just two really good fighters, Pac and Mayweather, you had a whole slew of them and they all fought each other over a decade. ****, these two guys can't even get one fight going. He is a bit more stationary... half out of choice, half out of age, imo. You're not exactly as fleet footed at 35 as you are at 23. The good thing is he is aware of it, and embraces it... where people like Roy don't think it's happening.
