you are really missing the underlying point here. why the **** does it matter who would win in a "real" fight? so i guess brock lesnar is superior to derek jeter and michael phelps because he would win in a "real" street fight? that's ****n bull****. why does it even matter? if you really wanna prepare for a street fight, just carry a gun or knife around with you instead of training 5+ hours a day.
i personally prefer boxing, but i can understand people liking other sports more, and that's exactly what mma is, another sport.
It's interesting. Betting lines have this fight nearly dead even, with Adamek being a slight favorite. Am I the only one thinking Arreola will be too big and hit too hard for a recently moved up cruiserweight?
You should take up boxing if you love boxing. It will get u in tremendous shape, and will definitely help at defending yourself. I think it's the most effective thing in a street fight. Taking a guy to the ground is pretty lol to me. You would be rolling on concrete or cement, so even if you were up against a jiu jitsu guy, his first instinct would probably be to throw down first as well. And we all know it only takes one good shot.
But honestly, do boxing because you love it, then you will really get the most out of it. Boxing is not streetfighting, it is a science and an art.
I think the obvious choice is bute. Pavlik will have a hard time dealing with his movement and boxing, not to mention he has more power than martinez or hopkins. We can't forget about what happened in the first Andrade fight though, and Pavlik is still a huge puncher.
I boxed for about a year and a half and was shorter than most guys I sparred with. I wouldn't say it is wasting time, but at least starting out, fighting small is definitely harder to learn. It is much easier to learn how to stick and move and throw the occasional right hand left hook, rather than cut off the ring, slip, close distance, then counter. Punching is the easy part. The hard part is moving your head and closing distance with your feet before your opponent gets away.
Was valero like this before his last fight with Demarco? I can't imagine anyone with those kind of mental issues and alcohol could even train properly for a fight.
