Yep, one thing about Khan, he always goes out on his shield. People are very negative about Khan, but he's done a lot of good over his career. I don't think it would be wrong to assume that he inspired a whole generation of British Asians to be boxing fans.
Btw I found the trick in this. Instead of copying off the YouTube app, you need to view it in Safari or Chrome, from there copy the embed as u normally would
Thanks! I copied from Safari but unfortunately didn't work.
Anthony Joshua was considered a bigger puncher than Deontay Wilder, at the time of the Molina fight I.E When Joshua fought Molina, within the boxing world 'Nobody was referring to Wilder as the hardest hitting heavyweight of all-time etc
It was between Kilschko, Joshua & Wilder at that specific time 'The media is probably going abit over the top with his power'
Not sure what you mean. I’m talking about right now. Some people are saying that Wilder is the biggest puncher of all time.
The guys who Wilder 1 punched KO would’ve got 1 punched by those named above. Dominic Brezeale? Imagine Foreman hitting him. Ortiz? Pft. The heavyweight division is so weak right now that Wilder comes across as a bigger killer than he is.
His KOs look spectacular because of his level of opposition.
Take Canelo for example. Good solid puncher. If someone was to only see his KO of Khan people would think he is a knockout artist but the reason for the KO was the weight discrepancy amongst other things. When Canelo fights people his size and closer to his level he still has good power but is not KO artist.
The fact of the matter is when judging punching power you have to look at level of opposition. There’s levels.
Lara is not tailor-made for Canelo, he's a stylistic nightmare. You can bet Oscar begged him not to go for that fight and invested his mortgage in the judges.
Mistake. Meant to say Kirkland & Angulo. Edited the post.
Where do you see Alvarez maxing out in terms of skills
He always seems to be in close fights at the higher level when opponents aren't tailormade rather than putting on dominant performances
I had Trout 7-5
Drew with Erislandy
and a competitive match with Miguel
I think whenever he fights an elite level boxer he'll always be in trouble purely because he isn't able to cut off the ring as well as his other attributes and stamina issues which prevent him from being as active as he could be. But both cutting off the ring and stamina are issues that can be rectified. So then, rather than having close fights with the likes of Trout and Lara he could perhaps win more dominantly in an 8-4 fight like he did today. Still even with these issues I had him winning 7-5 against both Trout and Lara. A good strength and conditioning coach would significantly help Canelo.
Also, when fighting fighters who are "tailormade" for him at the elite level i.e Kirkland & Angulo I wouldn't say they are necessarily tailormade, it's just that Canelo has the attributes to beat them. They being solid B fighters still have the power and tenacity to beat him. Not saying that you aren't giving him credit for wins, but it irkes me when other people on this board don't give him credit for them wins because they were supposedly tailormade for him as if they just turn up to lose.
I think his performance against Canelo shows how much he has improved. His defense in the fight with regards to his upper body movement was also very good, he was very slick in evading punches. If he can continue to improve like this and sort out the two glaring issues I previously mentioned then I think he could even go up to 168 and possibly 175 and still compete. Remember he's only 25. Today he fought as if someone who's been a champion for years and it was just another fight. I was really impressed with the performance.
But you can expect the usual haters to say Canelo is overrated, spoonfed stardom, get sparked by GGG & is a bum. Anyone who's objective will be able to see the significant improvements, the throwback attitude & the very good wins he's got on his resume earning him a spot in the top 10 P4P and maybe even top 5.
Make it an inside fight and punish gennady's body
That Monroe fight showed me gennady can be had at close quarters by an opponent who knows what he's doing
Yeah GGG showed he can be hit. I don't buy into this Mexican style thing, nobody wants to get hit. He showed that in the Lemieux fight.
Canelo's work to the body can be vicious. He showed some of it today against Cotto and against Lara he really thudded the body.
Maybe get on the inside bang the body and come up with his uppercuts. Then we'll see the Mexican style response lol.
Feel bad for him. Didn't deserve to be stopped in the first Froch fight and then was brutally KOd in the second fight and hasn't looked the same since.
I hope he can get his head together and hopefully become a world champion.
This just shows the corruption of boxing. IV can take as much drugs as he wants but it's just all swept under the carpet because he's the cash cow. It was predictable that this would be the end result.
Oscar is continuing to make fights the fans want to see even with his limited roaster of fighters. On the other hand, however, the proclaimed saviour of boxing is giving us mismatch after mismatch.
lol..Khan wont even fight Brook...LMFAO
And it took, what, 5 years for Floyd to fight Pacquiao. Khan still has a few years to go then based on your idols standards.
Sorry bud. This fight is dog sh1t. I can understand you're trynna make yourself feel better.
Khan is vacationing for sometime (shape) and and most probably won't be sparring Mr I can't see my Haterz.
http://myboxing.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Berto-e1375206345655.jpg
But but but but Berto got an A grade for his performance against Lopez. But but but you don't have to buy PPV doe. But but but Floyd earned the right to cherry pick.
Lol so what's the point in this thread? Someway trying to justify Berto as an opponent lol.
Khan has achieved way more than any of the current WW apart from Floyd & Pac. Also, this video, strangely enough, demonstrates what a good fighter he is & how much heart Khan has to come back from such knockdowns & beatings, in the case of Prescott & Garcia. Some fighters would not have been able to come back from such circumstances to such an extent that they were in a good position to lobby for the most marquee fight out there at the moment as Khan was.
Lil Floyd vs Pac
Cotto vs Canelo
Chaves vs Canelo
Broner vs Garcia
Khan vs Guerrero/Brook
Maidana vs Thurman
Bradley vs any GBP/Haymon fighter
Mikey Garcia vs Gamboa
And many more.
Yep he's up there. Partly to do with his religion, partly to do with his race and the fact he makes the occasional silly comment doesn't help but then again which boxer doesn't. Imo a lot of the hate comes from his religious and racial background.
Just over a year and a half later and it's now the most talked about fight.
Wide opinion still favours GGG by "devastating KO" but Canelo being GGGs first elite level opponent you would have to think it would be closer than that even if GGG did win.
How time flies, I made this thread back in mid-2014.
The hype for this fight is huge & thankfully we only had to wait a year for it to happen as opposed to a lot longer.
I think it's a 50/50 fight, before I used to think GGG would win but now I favour Canelo. He's improving by leaps and bounds.
The style match up is intriguing.
