I’ve had some friends saying that Wilder is the hardest puncher of all time. Malik Scott has said this too and Atlas said something along these lines as well.
Now I vehemently disagree and believe the above 3 are all harder punchers than Wilder. Yes, Wilder punches very hard, in fact exceptionally hard. However, you have to look at his level of opposition. The above 3 knocked out much better opponents with better chins. Foreman knocked Frazier down 6 times before KOing him. You can’t rank someone’s punch power as the greatest when they haven’t knocked out people with great chins.
Discuss.
He has the hardest one shot in boxing history. I'm not even a fan of his but his right hand is ridiculous
He landed his right hand, in the opening rounds against Tyson Fury 'In their rematch' and it did nothing.
Overall his power is abit overrated.
Wilder the hardest puncher ever? Probably. wilder is one of those raw punchers who could hurt/ko opponents with the least Clean Landed punches and least Cleanly Landed punches wilder doesn’t even have to lands clean to hurt opponents, just like foreman and shavers ,but foreman shavers wasn’t knocking out modern super heavyweights consistently, wilder knocks modern day super heavyweights out consistently and in the most devastating fashion too with one clean shot knocks opponents semi dead like Julian Jackson did in the middle weight . Wilder also has good speed Along with that power, like Julian Jackson, it’s like a sniper. So wilder hits harder than foreman and shavers 、liston probably about 5%~10%. certainly far harder than prolific punchers like Tyson who usually knocks opponents down with punch they didn’t see coming or knocks opponents out with combination of punches, about 20%.tyson’s power is more like Joshua’s good raw power but more prolific. Joey Dawejko who sparred joshau klitschko wilder ranked Joshua 7 klitschko 8~9 wilder 10.
But power alone is not enough in boxing there were/are journey man level fighters who could hit harder than elite fighters but they couldn’t always land their punches clean&consistent&effective.
And wilder only has that power in long range.
For one punch I think Wilder's straight right wen he throws it perfectly straight on balance with his feet set is one of if not the hardest punches ever. It is much harder than the in my opinion overrated Shavers straight right.Sometimes Wilder does not throw the right correctly and then it is not nearly as hard. Wilder has a good left hook but it is not exceptional. Liston and Foreman, especially Foreman had a bigger variety of killer punches than Wilder even if no one punch is quite as hard as a perfect Wilder straight right. Foreman was a great puncher with all the punches from jabs to straight rights to hooks and uppercuts with either hand. He could knock guys out with a much larger variety of punches than Wilder. For one single perfect punch I go with the Wilder straight right but for all around KO power with both hands I think Foreman and Liston were better and they fought better opponents overall than Wilder who flattened a lot of lousy fighters and a few good ones.
He has suddenly become the biggest puncher of all-time in the past 2 years.
Afew years back? He was a big puncher, but Anthony Joshua was considered on par with him, or maybe even just above 'That was the general consensus within the boxing world'
Yeah if you flash back to 2017, no one was saying this about Wilder. I think it really picked up after the Breazeale fight and it just exploded to new levels after he put Ortiz away with literally the first right hand he landed.
I feel like things like this are best decided when the fighter is retired, but right now it really does feel like Wilder is the biggest puncher ever (with the right hand, his left ain't saying much). Things that help his cause are the insanely padded record; the first 32 guys were all stiffs.... some even began their careers as low as super middleweight. His level of opposition for his defences haven't been great either, most (if not all) of the guys he knocked out have been put away by other fighters in sometimes just as devastating fashion.
I'll wait to see how his career ends up before giving a definitive judgement. You had a lot of guys claiming GGG hit harder than Julian Jackson when he was running through his opponents but that noise quieted down once his opposition got better.
Not sure what you mean. I’m talking about right now. Some people are saying that Wilder is the biggest puncher of all time.

He stopped Ortiz in his last fight with a pretty short punch.
Not really it was a fairly normal looking straight right hand, Wilder did not PULL the bow & arrow I.E usual Wilder announces to the world when he is loading up his right hand etc
Anthony Joshua was considered a bigger puncher than Deontay Wilder, at the time of the Molina fight I.E When Joshua fought Molina, within the boxing world 'Nobody was referring to Wilder as the hardest hitting heavyweight of all-time etc
It was between Kilschko, Joshua & Wilder at that specific time 'The media is probably going abit over the top with his power'
Not sure what you mean. I’m talking about right now. Some people are saying that Wilder is the biggest puncher of all time.
The guys who Wilder 1 punched KO would’ve got 1 punched by those named above. Dominic Brezeale? Imagine Foreman hitting him. Ortiz? Pft. The heavyweight division is so weak right now that Wilder comes across as a bigger killer than he is.
His KOs look spectacular because of his level of opposition.
Take Canelo for example. Good solid puncher. If someone was to only see his KO of Khan people would think he is a knockout artist but the reason for the KO was the weight discrepancy amongst other things. When Canelo fights people his size and closer to his level he still has good power but is not KO artist.
The fact of the matter is when judging punching power you have to look at level of opposition. There’s levels.

Post a list of all those guys 1 punch KOs.
shavers is the most overrated puncher of all time. All the guys that claim he’s the hardest puncher all got back up and beat his stank ass
Eddie Futch said he was an elite all time heavy hitter.
Dundee said Shavers right could knock down a wall.
I guess you know more than those 2 hall of fame trainers.
He hits hard, but the application of his power is extremely limited.
His offensive arsenal is not quite on the level of Mike Tyson, who only needed afew inches of space to generate game changing power.
Wilder seems to need afew meters of space in comparison.

If Wilder hits with a full flow at long range, like against Breazeale, he probably hits harder than all. In the shorter range straight punches, I would say Foreman/Shavers. For uppercuts, possibly Mike Tyson but that would depend on the height of the opponent too.
Put simply, I don't think one fighter has the hardest punches overall.
