Right now I think that every well known boxing judge I’ve seen in the last ten years has done more than one awful job. Maybe I’m fussier nowadays? Maybe the longer you see boxing the more ****ty stuff you see?
Are you serious?
Roach should NOT at all be talking about others juicing and penalties. Pacman was juicing for yrs and starching guys. Soon as Mayweather got on his ass about fight and drug testing, Pacman made excuses. When he did stop juicing his power suddenly went away and he has stopped only one or two opponents to date since than.
Have you forgot what really happened? Mayweather accused Pacquioa of juicing, which was denied. Then Pacquioa learned about Mayweather’s three failed tests that hadn’t been disclosed by USADA. Pacquioa sued Mayweather and received an undisclosed cash settlement and Mayweather didn’t say a bad word about Manny again.
Read the Thomas Hausner stories from that time. I’m (now) a Mayweather fan and I admit his amazing record has some asterixes.
I honestly think its Floyd fans(me included) who hate on him. Now don't get me wrong I think of him highly as a fighter and after Quilin's show against Rosado I would have him the clear favourite.
But...... like you said there these people going on like hes a God and that just pisses you off when HoF's like Pacquiao,Cotto and Marquez are spoken down on so much.
Then there are the skills argument. This is what pisses me off most.
You have haters saying "GGG is a face first brawler", but then his fans come in to defend him saying "oh no, he's making small adjustments and is actually very skillful going forward". BUT, when Floyd,Lara,Rigo fans say "look at the subtle skills hes using, making his opponent chase him and miss punches" then the GGG fans go "why won't he stop running".
It's childish, moronic and hypocritical.
I don't get it. Why would a Mayweather fan hate Golovkin? I don't call myself a Mayweather fan but I freely admit he the best fighter in the world, still getting better, because of his incredible skills, conditioning, and most of all, ability to adapt and be smart. Equally, Rigondoux has skills that are similarly awe-inspiring.
I think Golovkin's footwork and timing are excellent and make him great to watch.
Why should admiration of one translate to dismissing the other?
They do, because a lot of fans are dumb, and have a tendency to trust an american (Mexican) fighter ahead if a European one. I guess it’s the impact if movies like Die Hard where the bad guy always has a rysduannir English accent.
How do they talk about scared when it was their fighter who ran for mist of the last fight? (his footwork was amazing though, have to give credit). If the rematch happens Givkin will probably win. If Canelo fights Havobs, thenHacibs silk probably win. I can understand then ex ting to protect their cash cow.
I was always baffled by how much positive press HBO gave to Andre Ward. It seemed like years that he wasn't fighting and they continued to hype him. Then, finally, we get to see him fight Kovalev and this should have answered all the questions.
But then the first fight gets scored the wrong way? WTF? I was never a Kovalev fan but he obviously beat Ward the first time. The second fight Kovalev looked bad, but Ward didn't look much better. The ref, who I respected until then, was clearly on Ward's side, which sucked for us fans. The stoppage was awful - but the result was probably inevitable. All in all, it was a ****ty fight, and a ****ty end to the career of someone who had been given the label "pound for pound #1" without really demonstrating that as a professional.
It sucks because maybe Andre Ward could have been all that - but who will know?
I was thinking about buying the ESPN+ app but now.....nope.
what a bunch of whining babies.
Have y'all forgotten about the appalling decade that preceded teh last few years in the heavyweight division?
This is the first time in almost 15 ears where there have been three interesting heavyweights. I agree that we *should* have seen a wilder rematch. But life *should* b efair, judging *should* be honest but shoulda, woulda, coulda. The business of boxing is crooked, chaotic and farked. Until we geta national commission things wont change.
ESPN Plus is good value - if you are a UFC fan too. And many boxig fans arent. For me, each of the sports makes me appreciate the other one.
To the whiners. At least we arent stull in the age of the Klitschko snoozefests.
I’m no fan of Canelo but I thought he looked great for lots of moments, but didn’t want to engage GGG. I’m still baffled by the score. If Byrd was corrupt why didn’t she just give it to Canelo by two points? Her scoring looked more like someone who was drunk.
I had GGG up by two. I thought RJJ sounded biased.
He’d phuck me up be a pro! Lol I would talk all kinds of sh.it though I’d tell his ass to his face that he is a fraud and hopefully he knocks me out so I can sue his ass
Why are you so insecure that champion boxer who doesn’t juice, doesn’t fight dirty, makes you uncomfortable?
Exactly!!! And that heavyweight was the Challenger and STILL got put on his @$$ twice smh *****e$ with delusional fanboyism. It's crazy
And that challenger still won 10 of 12 rounds yet didn’t get the decision.
That’s all you got right now buddy, the rematch . Canelo would tear you up again and so does every other top middleweight . It’s over for you , you are now a bobble head
Real boxing fans have respect for the fighters who risk their lives so that we can have silly online debates.
Rosado is such a poor sport and sore loser. He got destroyed by Golovkin and wont take his lost like a man. I guess he's just jealous his Puerto Rican friend Danny Garcia is getting so much attention now and that's why he's jealous.
That's complete BS. I am a huge Peter Quillin fan, I saw his first ten fights and more than half the others live, and have enjoyed seeing him develop as a fighter. I thought Rosado looked brave but overmatched against GGG, so I wasn't expecting much on Saturday night. In other words I'm biased in Kid Chocolate's favor.
I thought Peter was ahead by one point at the time of the stoppage and that he was in real danger of being beaten. I thought that the stoppage was premature as Rosado was giving as good as he got and he much more than a fighter's chance, even with the cut. It would be a different matter if he was fighting with one eye, as he did against GGG.
The scoring was disgraceful and it embarrasses me to see the sport I love condone such sleaziness. Both fighters acted like professionals and have nothing to be ashamed of.
Aloha,
Ah theres nothing to beat the lazy arrogance of a boxing fan sitting on the sidelines dissing a fighter.
Lemieux not in the top 30? Stevens a fringe fighter?
Did either of you watch the fight?
Boxrec's competerized rating system puts Lemieux at #3 and Stevens at #26 - which seem defensible. I'd love to see Lemieux fight Canelo and think he'd have a good chance of scoring an upset.
Stevens had to talk the way he did or he wouldn't have got the fight and nobody would have gave a ****.
He showed a lot of heart. He was the inferior opponent, outmatched, out skilled, and just out of his depths but he had his moments and put up a good fight. Much respect.
I agree 100%. I look forward to seeing more from Stevens.
Also hoping that Golovkin gets the right fights to show us
more of what he can do.
